Another important point is to not keep silver dollars with slow moving fish like gold fish with extra long fins etc. The reason is that these fish are lightning quick, and will out compete the slow moving fish for food. Also, silver dollars are super skittish and easily spooked. Don't suddenly touch/tap the tank, turn off lights on /ff, especially if they are new to your tank. After a while they do settle down, but are still easily scared.

Great video, I've kept SDs for 40 years. I have a 125 gallon tank still with about 8 SDs and I've always kept them with Severums, however i've been having lots of bad luck with Severums lately, I think because I usually buy large fish that are already older. We've all tested my water and conditions and everything is always good. I'm either going to just add more SDs to this six foot tank, or, just a few more, and then maybe a different type of cichlid. I've kept oscar's, uaru, chocolate, and severums, geos with SDs I for some reason have bad luck with Geos too I think the bloodlines here in California or in the States are just not good anymore idk What other cichlids could I keep with the silvers? I love central american cichlids like JDs and GTs but they get much more aggressive. Any suggestions?
