Thank you for this. There are another 3 parts that you perhaps forgot to mention: • pressure safety relief valve - this releases air if the pot becomes overinflated. Your compressor should have one as well. For safety it is good practice that the pressure pot can handle a greater pressure than the compressor. • The regulator (the black thing with a screw handle under the pressure gauge) this is to control the flow of air into the pot. • airline connector - this is the part that connects to the hose of the compressor. This allows for easy release from the hose. (The hose should be pressure rated with the corresponding fitting) All of these parts are there for safety purposes and generally do not need to be adjusted. It is always good practice to ensure that the safety relief valve is not damaged or clogged. Not intrinsically pressure pot related, but it is a good idea to ensure that your compressor is fitted with a water trap. This prevents any moisture from getting into your pot or other equipment that you may be using on your compressor.

Mostly decent advice but how many compressors on the market do not charge to at least 120psi and how many pressure posts are designed to withstand greater than 80psi (hint; that 10 gallon pot she shows has a rated working pressure of 60 pounds, a maximum rated pressure of 80 pounds, and it is one of the heavier consumer pots you will find). You may discover that buying a compressor that does not exceed that working or maximum operational pressure of the pot to be a bit of a challenge. A simpler and more practical practice is to set the regulator on the input feed of the pot (which she points out but did not name) to the desired fill pressure and then set the output regulator on your compressor to a few pounds higher than that pressure; especially if you have bleed problems and want to leave the compressor hooked up to the pot. As far as the hose (air line connector) I noted that she did indicate where you attach the hose from your compressor (I can't actually recall ever seeing a pressure pot that had an integrated hose that you then attach to your compressor; pretty much always the other way around), but did not bother to say that this is the 1/4" MNPT plug that you will attach the FNPT coupler to when hooking up your compressor. Seemed self evident.

Ooops. 10 gallon large pot. Also a critical part of the lid is the pressure relief valve which on that 2.5 gallon pot is on the other end of the exhaust valve "T". Just FYI stuff. Now I can hear Tess saying "OK, dad. Enough. Go away now". 😉

Can u do regular dotted dice a pair with red white and blue no sparkly stuff ? Or black white and gold
@Tatenak6 ай бұрын
I gotta say, it would be awesome to have a pair of dice that had a bubble aesthetic. Maybe you could, put another layer of resin over, then dremel the numbers in. A little bit more crafty/tedious, but for Special Orders, it could be well worth it.

Hello I have never seen your vids before, I only found this one as I was searching pressure pots. I was actually looking for something else. I saw another creator use a vacuum chamber, but forgot the name he used. So when I was at home depot the search they came up with, was a pressure pot. I came back home and watched both his (North of the Border) and your vids. It seems to me that a pressure pot would be good for smaller amounts, while the vacuum might be better for larger amounts of resin at a time, which is what I'm doing. What are your thoughts on the different devices? And as I write this I see a video to the right comparing the two....lol

How long do you have the dice in the pressure pot?
@veerlevanluijk65185 ай бұрын
Hey! I was wondering if you make your own masters with an sla 3d printer. And if you did if you have some good tips for how to place the supports on the dice. I have tried it last week on someone elses printer but not succesfully so. I am now looking for buying my own printer so I have all the time to try. But any tips and trics are always welcome haha. 😊

What compressor did you start out with?
@gtwolfe1006 ай бұрын
I can address this since I set up Tess' equipment. She started with, and still uses, a Porter Cable pancake compressor. Her first pressure pot was a 2.5 gallon Harbor Freight conversion (I actually did two of them for her and it is noteworthy that HF changed the configuration of that pot a little over a year ago. So anyone trying to convert one following video instructions more than about a year old will encounter a couple new challenges), and the small compressor brought it up to pressure very fast. With 4 times the volume it naturally takes longer to bring that 10 gallon pot to pressure, but Tess told me it still fills to the target pressure around 40psi in about 2-3 minutes. So any small compressor with an output of better than 2 scfm at 90 psi should be more than adequate to charge a resin casting pressure pot.

interesting issue ! but what about creating molds for dice ? is it necessary to create mold with subsequent pressure reduction ? main part 55psi , lid - 50psi , dice - 40psi ? or is that a myth?
@GreyMatterShades6 ай бұрын
I'm not an expert, but I think the important thing is that you aren't pressurizing your dice at a higher PSI than you used to cast the molds. If a mold is put under higher pressure than its casting pressure it might compress, warping your dice.
@gtwolfe1006 ай бұрын
I will ask Tess to weigh in on this question but I doubt that the pressure at which a mold was created has any bearing on your casing pressure. I also make silicone molds but for metal casting so they generally have a shore of 80-90. However, I suspect that elasticity is being confused with compressibility here. The fact that the cured silicone is soft and flexible does not mean it is compressible. Remember that what you cast started out as a liquid and, as a general rule liquids, are not compressible. So deformation of a silicone mold should not occur regardless of the pressure applied. I can imagine that if somehow a very large pocket of air was caught in the resin against the side of the mold there could be some deformation caused by the mold compressing the trapped air; but that seems an extremely unlikely scenario. In any normal application only the air bubbles trapped in your resin are going to compress and with a sprue reservoir providing additional resin that should not cause any problems. If, however, you cast a mold that has a lot of bubble or air pockets, deformation of the mold could occur as those air pocket compress. I don't know if Tess degasses her silicone when making her molds but I always do.
