We had ours trigger.. and for good reason. Our well froze solid due to the 5F Texas blizzard. I went to flip the well pump on 2 days later.. and didn't realize the 1 1/4 pipes running to the well head were *still* frozen solid (between the pressure tank and well). Tripped and likely saved an expensive repair on our well.

Stellar video, thanks. Our shop pressure switch stuck on and this saved our whole system. Time for a new one as the old one has bunch of iron buildup.

Should the relief valve always have a slight constant leak to the point there's a pool of water surrounding the well?
@EricBurns19703 жыл бұрын
I'd say if there is any possibility of your well pump to above ground storage line freezing - this IS necessary. If the above ground line from well to tank freezes solid you want this. Even the pressure switch line or pressure gauge could freeze and clog the system.

I have a 3/4 inch relief valve for my water well pump. Water is oozing not dripping out of my relief valve. Is it stuck open? Do I need to replace the relief valve?

Recently had damage to pipes from storm. Replaced damaged pipes and all of a sudden this relief valve has steady stream of water when system is on. Well only serves irrigation lines. What could be the reason and is it safe to run system even if this valve has a small steady stream?

We had the pipe under the points to do exactly like he showed and the relief valve was bad, the water tank blew up and it landed about 200 feet from where it was at, the blast was so strong that it cracked some of the windows in the house, they are dangerous.

Thanks for great video, but how do you set the valve to the correct psi for shallow well pump?
@WendellLeeWellServices4 жыл бұрын
You can buy them preset at different pressures (some come preset at 75 psi, 100 psi, etc). The cap on the end or some bigger valves will have a bolt is where you can adjust the factory setting to what ever pressure you need.

Yup, my pressure switch broke off and the connectors landed on the on position and my pump was always running which destroyed my pressure tank and some pipes on the property. All because I didn't have a $25 relief valve.

My relief valve on my well drips evertime I change the whole house filter every 3 months, I assume sediment gets in there and breaks the seal. Is there something I can do to prevent this from happening?

Mine keeps blowing off and on and I just replaced it a week ago , does this mean it’s a bad valve after only a week of working ? Please help

Thanks for video! I have 3/4" relief valve (75 psi) on my well pump. The relief value is almost 20 years old and just started dripping, mainly when pump kicks on (it only drips around one cup of water per day). But I noticed the pressure gauge for incoming water is around 80 psi. Does this mean I just need to turn down the water pressure, or does the relief valve need replaced?

Now is the exit pressure the same as the opening pressure? Like if it relieves pressure at 100psi is it going to come out the valve at 100psi?

No, it drips. I am dealing with one dripping today.

The other day during 20 degree weather my pressure relief valve blew out but system continued to operate w no further blowout. Could this have occurred bc of the freezing weather? Should I replace the pressure switch or valve?

The relief valve on the hot water heater is leaking. The valve has bits of lime particles from the wel,l not allowing the seal to seal. It must be replaced. The pressure gauge keeps going down, and keeps running the pump. The water is dripping underneath the trailer home. The bladder small pressure tank is wet on outside and water on copper pipe.
@scottwilliams69032 жыл бұрын
I got a question. I replaced an old galvanized storage tank with a bladder type tank. The insurance inspection guy said this was wrong. That there was a pressure relief valve in the pipe about 6 foot down on the pipe in the cassing. Is this true? I've only pulled a couple 9f submersible pumps. And I've never seen 1 like that?

What I would to know is why those little buggers keep on dripping forever after first relief episode. I have a 70 psi jobbie like the one you are holding in the video. My regular psi is around 60 psi. The thing drips/drains around 2 gallons per hour. That's a lot of accumulated hot water wasted. Switched out a couple of them...no luck. NEVER SEALS properly.
