What is a Sherry Cask?

Welcome to the next video in my Whisky Casks Mini series. Thanks Mark, we are starting to see it happening now- tbf if the end result is delicious I don't mind if the cask was 100 years old from a solera, or something that has been seasoned, it would just be nice to know

Great video and I was looking at Bodega Lustau who have casks prepared for Redbreast and are seasoned with Oloroso Sherry but not as we are led to believe (taking on the more romantic notion of aged Sherry Casks?) thank you 👍🏻🥃

Thanks Tom. Great video. I didn’t realise that was what the difference was. I figured seasoned just meant very short time in the cask whereas non season I figured was just longer. Good to know though. Transparency helps us the whisky geeks learn more about how the process affects the end product. Like you said in another comment, if it tastes good then that’s what matters but still good to know. Given how much we want to know about a whiskies journey though. I wonder if this could be implement similar to how Bruichladdich do their block chain technology for cask where would could scan the barcode of a whisky to find out all the details. I’d imagine there is a cost at having this structure in place though so we might only see it from certain distilleries

@@whiskyshorts1919 yeah if you go on to their website and select a bottle like say the Classic Laddie. Underneath where there is the add to basket button is. There is a section for code lower down then Reveal to show the cask makeup of their vatting. It’s part of their transparency campaign. You can put in an example code of 19/999 to see what it reveals
