I’ve tried it (my kid has one). I think it’s ideal for getting the feel/balance of a trick/grind/slide. And it’s really not tight enough to teach bad habits. If it helps a higher % of new skaters get their ollie down, it’s a win for that alone.

We were just at a skatepark in bountiful utah. My son is a beginner skater and was struggling to go up the ramps and some dude pulls out the smollie. First time I've ever heard of this thing. Now we own his. Thanks random guy. We will put this to use.

When I was a teenager I did something almost exactly like this. Only I used my old belt. I used to skateboard from school to the public library and there were lots of curbs and cracks and stuff along the way that got tiring to ollie over, but with the belt on my board like they have this smollie thing I just did a little hop and it took a lot less energy. And if I hit a rock or something I didn't have to worry about not being able to step off the board. Sure wish I had thought to improve the design and patent it. That was back in the late 90s.

Sometimes I feel like flip tricks or just tricks where you leave the board are easier then tricks where you stay connected to the board. I personally sorta skipped some fundamentals like backside and frontside 180 and actually considering using this to go back and get that practice I always needed thanks for the video braille ❤

Dang wish I had something like this growing up. When you see it it’s simple, but that’s how most things that work great seem. Feels like a product that there’s a bit of a learning curve but works best if for the most part you treat it like it’s a normal board. Like when I got a freebord, I had to lock in my mind it was just a snowboard on snow and then I could ride it fine. But when I thought of it as I was on asphalt I struggled to ride it.

I thought about trying to market something like this about 25 years ago when I was doing a fair bit of inner tube assisted skating. Except I used to put the tube around the middle of the board and hold onto it. Then ya just pull it tight and jump and the board comes up with ya. Then ya could bail without ya feet getting all tangled up in it and break ya friggin ankle. I called it bungee boarding. But I've just spilled my secret and mighta missed my chance to make millions off it. 🤷♂😂
