Yes, I agree. I use a financial advisor too. Same person since 2020. I don't worry about whether the economy is going up or down or sideways. I always ride through.

Also, don't forget the effect the Yen Carry Trade (YCT) has had, and continues to have, on the US Equity Futures, helping to push them to ridiculous and unsustainable levels, particularly with the DX being manipulated lower to strengthen exports. Generally speaking, watch the risk-off inverse correlation trading of the Yen vs. the S&P, Nasdaq, and Dow cash indices. Some day when there is cause/impetus (manufactured of course) for the S&P to begin the journey downward to trade the massive imbalance which exists at 1420-1443 on the ES from 12/31/12 to 1/2/13, you'll see a surge in the Yen (and of course the VIX) to cover Yen short positions used to leverage long equity positions.

Moral of the story: if you're leveraging debt - as opposed to capital you can afford to lose - then your liability in carry trades can generate higher risks than you might have initially priced into your forecasted market positions.

Questions: Are prime brokers lending hedge funds actual Yen, or are they borrowing JGB's, selling the JGB for Yen, and then doing a forex into AUD and then buying Aussie Govt Bonds? What is the actual detailed structure of an average YCT and who is doing the lending?

The question is , what is the interest of the first borrower ( the one who gave you the 1 million JPY ) to give you the money knowing that he will receive 0% in interest ????? Tobreceive the 1M JPY , did you some assets as counterparty so that in case of default, the person who gave the money can have the sous-jacent assets ?

@Jdjohnjd If the yen gets high Japanese products get expensive for export. Exports goes down, trade surplus goes down. Result japanese corporations will move manufacturing to other countries. Japan gets hollowed out. Possibly more unemployment the younger generation is already having a tough time finding employment. Domestically Japan is in a deflationary situation less yen asked for same goods just to stimulate domestic spending i.e. discounts and sales.
