Thank you Bhante for this interesting topic that constantly puzzles a lot of people nowadays. I just would like to say, coming from a meditation lineage that puts Abhidhamma into Vipassanā meditation practice, the 'ultimate' realities enumerated in the Theravada Abhidhamma could in a greater extent and clarity be witnessed all by him/herselve who has developed a relatively strong concentration ,preferably up to the levels of four Jhānas, as a basis. There are quite a number who has had this ability to verify such subtle realities. Check out a few earnest lay meditators who devoted quite an extensive span of time to the meditation and reported their experience - check out Sarah Catherine, "WIsdom Deep and Wide' and Hyun-soo Jeon, "Samatha, Jhana, and Vipassana' by Wisdom Publications. As Kalamasutta says, only by 'knowing it as it is' one has the best means to verify whether such a teaching is valid or not.

A mathematical research showed that dimensional interactions could make four great forms, and then they could become 24 material forms, becoming a matter zone. There is a similar explanation in Theravada Buddhism. Those elements are like material qualities in a matter zone. According to the flow of dimensions, initial dimensional formation is like a dimensional zone that can make an influence just like the influence of consciousness (Citta moment) on matter. Probably, dimensions remove infinities between dimensions making 23 gaps around the initial 6 dimensions. Therefore, 23 matter zones could emerge around the initial dimensional zone. Perhaps, the initial zone is causing the collapse of the wave function or it is making a force. And probably, many sets of initial zones and matter zones could emerge with the expansion of the universe. Abhidhamma mentions 23 matter zones that make matter body/particle (Rupa Sarira) that can make connected formations/atoms (Rupa Santhana). Also, it mentions 24 Generations of zones (Rupa Santhati). Similarly, there are generations of elementary particles in the standard model of particle physics. Perhaps, living beings use many initial zones with the matter zones while struggling to keep and maintain them. So, Abhidhamma is important for us to understand the nature of reality. Thank you. Sadhu Sadhu Sadhu.
