Firstly thank you for this series. Im an older student, and dont need a degree, just want one :) and well, WGU kinda sucks in the teaching dept. on to this.... I mean this is textbook, I just don't agree with it 100% My family is 8 generations dirt poor. All cyclical drunks, all in poverty. I dropped out of HS and got my GED. I still don't have a college degree, but I was never satisfied and kept bettering myself. It took me much longer than my now coworkers, but I made it. Well into 6 figures, great benefits. And am able to foster two others and start them on a good path, hopefully changing thier mentality. I've been broke MANY times, but I've never been poor. Poverty is not about a generational curse of where you were born, it's about having a mindset of eating scraps from societies table, and thinking it's all you're worth. Yes, the brick layer works hard. It's physical backbreaking work, but he will never break the cycle if he accepts the fact that he's only a bricklayer.
