Finally someone who just calmly explains things about this game, without also explaining 15 extra minutes of filler/extra jargon I could just figure out on my own! Thank you Hollow!

amazing video for new players! For some reason they're still really confused about AC while the other mechanics can seem natural to them... I'll definitely show this to any new players in my group, thanks!!!

Thank you so much! I hope it helps them!!!!

Worth noting: barbarian and monk unarmored defense is optional! You wear armor instead if your wis or con is crap.

Oh totally yeah but a lot of people do just use it! I tried to keep it as simple and fast as possible so didn't go in to too many other details but totally worth noting! Thanks for the comment Derek! Probably will help people where I missed something!!!!

what class is a plague doctor
@HollowTale4 жыл бұрын
Now thats the true question. Personally if first party likely a warlock or artificer, if third party then the way more suiting Alchemist by mage hand press is a fave for that theme. I HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT THIS A LOT. Still waiting for something that fits it to a tee.
@andrewthegeek65224 жыл бұрын
Hollow Tale thank you plague doctors can be a really big deal depending upon the setting. As a gm I could also see a home brew class as possible but those are hard

Hollow Tale I’m actually currently writing a class that has a plague doctor subclass, the class is called Practioner and is all about creating mixtures without magic. I can send the doc of you like.

I tell my players that you need to "Meet or Beat AC/DC." Since meet and beat rhyme and AC/DC is a band, it works pretty well. In dnd, the person who rolls the d20 always needs to equal or exceed the target number. If you are attacking, you need to match or get higher than the AC, and if you are making a saving throw, you also need to match or get higher than the DC or difficulty class of the spell/ability.

You state that the AC must be beaten to land a successful hit, in fact matching the AC also counts as a successful hit “meet it to beat it”

A question, if you roll 1d20 for AC, what you do for enemy's with 21 AC?
@jaymcyaru3 жыл бұрын
you actually roll 1d20 and add either your strengh or dexterity modifier depending on the weapon, and your proficiency bonus, so if you have say +3 strengh at first level, your roll would be 1d20+3+2(this is your proficiency bonus at first level), so to beat a 21 AC you need to roll a 16 at least. 16+3+2 = 21. or you can roll a natural 20, then it hits regardless of the AC
@HollowTale3 жыл бұрын
Jay got it exact and in more detail! You add your modifiers! So if you are doing a hit with a greatsword and you are adding your strength mod to it. You add strength + proficiency on top of your d20 roll. Some weapons allow for the use of dexterity for this but the concept is the same!

What if I’m a barbarian and I want to wear armor? Do I add the armors Ac to my barbarians unarmored ac?
@ivarolsen42182 жыл бұрын
so i am a little confused if an attack is below the targets ac then dose it just not do any damage or dose it not do extra damage I'm new to d&d so I'm very lost

Im having a hard time finding the ac for a half orc paladin with chainmail and armor, any help would be appreciated...
@HollowTale3 жыл бұрын
So Heavy Armor doesn't ordinarily include dexterity so... Chainmail = 16AC Chainmail with a shield = 18AC Anything on top of that would be from class features/spells/magic items so check there's nothing else that would add more!

Hello Everyone, the information of when you hit is incorrect! The correct rule is: When your D20 roll (+ modifyers) beat or equal the enemy AC it is a hit. In the video this is described incorrectly as it is stated that only if the AC is beaten you hit...
