well, this is just a basic but would be nice if you can show any step by step configuration of any IoT device on SAP platform, and show the analysis part. well, many companies, individuals are now developing their own IoT devices and therefore, any sample video showing the connectivity and a quick analysis example would highly help..

Hello, I'm not sure, whether these whiteboard videos are the right medium for a step by step configuration guide. Nevertheless, I will put this topic on our video pipeline. Maybe we will come up with an idea to cover your aspects here in the future. On the other hand, besides these videos, I would recommend to have a closer look at the SAP / IoT-starterkit in Github (github.com/SAP/iot-starterkit). I believe there are a lot of answers to the question your currently have in mind. With regards, JJ

The question is, how will determine what the gateway should filter? in other words :" who decides whats relevant and whats not ?" and how it can deal with different applications ? for example : energy, health, monitoring for security .. etc. does every application have a different gateway ? or one for all the environment requirements ?
@jurgenjakowski10098 жыл бұрын
Hello, Of course this is an interesting point and requires some effort to evaluate. As a minimum I do recommend to follow our blog series "Characteristics of an enterprise IoT strategy" (blogs.sap.com/2016/09/08/characteristics-of-an-enterprise-iot-strategy-part-1-the-journey-starts/). The upcoming blog of this series will deal with the topic of IoT prototypes. In the prototyping phase of your IoT project you would usually evaluate which data is required, which data is available and which data needs to be filtered when and where. In regards to the installation types. In fact there are several options possible. We are currently preparing additional videos to further discuss this. Additionally, we plan to describe several installation types within the SAP EA Explorer, which leads me to my second recommendation: Please subscribe to our SAP EA Explorer newsletter (bit.ly/2fZI1ry) to get informed when new content becomes available. With regards, JJ

Nice and clear explanation. Yes, I want to see more. I´m interested in the deployment patterns. In which ways can I deploy an IoT solution? What do I have to take into account to choose one or another pattern and what are the pros and cons of each? Thank you.
@jurgenjakowski10098 жыл бұрын
Hello Fernando, thank you for your feedback and especially for your proposals. We are going to prepare the video about deployment patterns the week after next. I guess it will be online by mid of November. I will definitively add the pro and con view into it. That's a great idea. If you want to keep up to date with our videos, just follow me on Twitter (twitter.com/JJComment) oder in LinkedIn. These are the places where I announce new videos first. Regards, JJ

Hi JJ It would be a lot of help if you create series of videos and the contents of the course

IoT is the next generation of communication. Just think about if our personal devices talk to each other and share the data. Then it might reduce the dependencies on Public communications such as Internet and Mobile tower.

IF there should be a proper youtube cannel for SAP IOT in which first video will let us know what is IOT and later on how SAP IOT can be deployed and what persons are needed like functional and technical expersts...what the programming language and how to develop IOT APPLICATION end to end scenario's would help us alot
@jurgenjakowski10098 жыл бұрын
Hello Ahmed, Thanks a lot for this valuable feedback. Basically, the first place to find all of our videos, connected to more details, is the SAP EA Explorer at: eaexplorer.hana.ondemand.com/_videos.html Besides that, we are currently working out with colleagues from marketing how to improve the way to post our videos so that they can easier be found. As we not only work on IoT as a topic, a pure SAP IoT channel wouldn't help us much. I like the idea a lot to provide some place where we can have a kind of learning map that helps you being guided through our videos. I will definitively think about a solution for that for the SAP EA Explorer. Finally, thank you a lot for further ideas on videos you might like. Talking about the persons and skills needed is a pretty good topic for a video. -JJ

Interesting ! if you can provide us one end-to-end example that'll be super !
@jurgenjakowski10098 жыл бұрын
Hello and thank you very much for your feedback. You are right. An end-to-end example is helpful and needed. The good news is that we are already finalizing our next video which exactly covers this point. :) It will be called "What a typical data flow in an IoT solution looks like" and is planned to become published by the end of next week. If you are on Twitter, you can follow me (twitter.com/JJComment) to get updated on our latest uploads. Or you can also find me on LinkedIn, where I usually also post our videos as soon as they are available.

Thank you for the video With ciot upcoming, can pgw be called as IOT gateway? Is it expected to do some processing on data received or just forward it to the concerned application server ?

A very well explained video. Is SAP developing a new programming language for IoT? Will IoT used only in cloud based applications?
@jurgenjakowski10098 жыл бұрын
Hello Sriram, actually, there are IoT solutions for both, on-premise as well as cloud available. Please have a closer look into the SAP EA Explorer at SAP IoT Platform > eaexplorer.hana.ondemand.com/_item.html?id=11850#!/overview In regards to the programming language. Do you have any specific expectation? From my perspective, SAPUI5 (with or without SAP Web IDE) can be a solid environment together with the various services provided by the on-premise and cloud-based SAP platforms. With regards, JJ

Hello :) in this video, i see that a gateway could have a : LAN or MAN connection ...my question is : in which case the gateway could have LAN connection ? thank you a lot :)
@manishkaul62915 жыл бұрын
For an example, you could consider a smart home application. There are many edge nodes/sensors in a smart home deployment like a smart switch or a smart bulb which are connected to GW through a comm technology of the sort of BLE, SubGHz etc and the GW is connected to the Wifi Router using a LAN cable (ethernet interface) to connect to the server application. This is how gateway has a LAN connection or if your GW has a Wifi Module on it, it can directly connect to the Wifi Access Point (your router) locally inside your home.
