i still dont get it. Like both are defined as Na. Why do they have different numbers? One being 23 and other being 24??
@suhaizibongsu8892 Жыл бұрын
An atom consists of 3 things. Electron, Neutron and Proton.. Now, Nucleon is the collective numbers of Proton and Neutron. Remember the number of Proton (Atomic number) determine the element identity. Example if it was 8 it will be oxygen. If it is 6 it is carbon. Nucleon is the collective numbers of Proton and Neutron. However,them both things may not equal to each other for the Neutron could be greater or lower than Proton number. Example, Sodium has 11 Proton and 11 Neutron. That's just😢 'Na' . No need to define it as 'Na22'.
@suhaizibongsu8892 Жыл бұрын
To define sodium as Na 22 is not necessary as we know sodium has 11 proton. Now, isotope is about Neutron number didn't equal to Proton number that's why we have to define it with the total number so we can tell how many Neutron missing from the element. I hope this will help you and not to mess you up.

@@suhaizibongsu8892 hii, im still confused. So isotopes are two same elements with different neutrons?
@SwillTheDrill4 ай бұрын
@@Hxqtie Yes. He explained it really well, from what I understood, neutrons are neutral, so they don’t influence the atom. Protons and electrons have a charge, so they do.
