They're truly my favorite type of crane ever. I just love their sleekness and how they traverse across the factory floor like a floating bridge!

Thanks for the comment, Steve! We're big fans of TATA Steel. We got the opportunity to work with them on this case study that focused a few different fall protection projects: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lYXUdaeoZtiKiLc. It's always awesome to see someone like Mark who is consistently looking for ways to improve the safety for their workers. Enjoy the rest of your week! - Devon

Nice presentation. You're exactly how I pictured a crane salesman would look haha. My company is known for its gantry/overhead cranes (Newport News Shipbuilding) and we just replaced one that was at least 100 years old.

Ha! I'll let Chris know that he's nailing the proper look of a Crane Salesman. I've gotten to work on a few projects with our branch down in Virginia Beach, and the sight of Newport News as you drive past it is one of a kind. One of my favorite places to work on projects just because of the scale of everything is massive. Form the size of the outdoor gantry cranes to just the volume of ships, the whole area is incredible! Have a great week and congrats on the 100-year replacement. -Devon

Are the parts or components from one overhead crane manufacturer very interchangeable with those components from another overhead crane manufacturer? FOR INSTANCE: A trolley probably cannot be mounted on a bridge girder by a different manufacturer because each has their own designs and specifications. Would this be correct please?

Hey bud, thanks for the video. I've seen in electrification part that you're using Yaskawa inverters in ... What is the reason?
@LiftingandRigging
@LiftingandRigging 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and for the question! We scrubbed through the electrification section and didn’t see any Yaskawa inverters you mentioned. If there was a Yaskawa in there, it was supplied with the hoist or bridge panel and we can’t necessarily force the supplier to change their standard to suit. Hope that answers your question!

I'm going to apply to an overhead crane operator job without any experience. What are the chances I get hired? I really need/want to do this at this time. Wish me luck!
@LiftingandRigging
@LiftingandRigging 4 жыл бұрын
Absolute best of luck with the interview today, Dana! A lot of companies will provide on-the-job training to get prepared for the task. Definitely be honest with your interviewer(s) today. Attempting to operate an overhead crane system without proper training is a very dangerous practice and one we don't recommend what-so-ever. I'm going to drop a few links that might help you out though as you pursue this. This is a lifting and rigging best practices infographic - www.mazzellacompanies.com/Resources/Blog/rigging-best-practices-overhead-lifting-infographic These are some useful guidelines for riggers - www.mazzellacompanies.com/Catalog/Slings-Assemblies/Use-Guidelines-For-The-Rigger And this article was written by Al Abel, one of our Top Trainers here at Mazzella, about how to properly rig a load - www.mazzellacompanies.com/About/Articles-Press/Good-Rigging-Like-Playing-Golf-CHM-Nov-2017 Hope these resources help a little. You might be able to find some overhead crane operator training online, but that's something I haven't gotten the chance to do yet (but I absolutely have on my radar). Again, best of luck to you today and Happy holidays! - Devon

The music is very distracting - prevents encoding as it's requiring additional cognitive resources. This content is really great but hard to pay attention to for this reason. I'd delete the sound in future training videos :)

@@Acksakal Good morning! I wanted to follow up with you real quick on an updated version of our "What is an Overhead Crane" video. Check it out here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mYOlgaSppZakmNE When I was working on this online cranes 101 course, I went through some of the comments on these older videos and wanted to make sure we took a different approach to the way we recorded audio and layered in the track. So hopefully this version works a little better for you. Thanks again for the feedback and I hope you enjoy the rest of your week! -Devon

Hey, Dennis! Wanted to follow-up with you on an updated version of our "What is an Overhead Crane" video. Check it out here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mYOlgaSppZakmNE I know you had mentioned the sound quality being less than optimal. So when I was working on this Cranes 101 project, I wanted to make sure we switched up the way we recorded audio and layered in the backing track. Hope the new one works a little better.
