For me art is everywhere, anything we can see in this world is an art, the tress, animals, rivers, Earth's surface, atmosphere and specially human being is what we called art. For the scriptures says in Genesis 1:1, in the beginning God created the heaven and Earth, and if you read the whole of this verse, you can see that mankind are created in the sixth day, therefore everything we can see in this world is Gods masterpiece, so art everywhere.

Art is a synonym for technique. An artist is someone who has the technique, qualifications or practical knowledge to make things. They can be creative artists. It is divided into cooperative and productive art. Works of art can be used or enjoyed. Used: chair and shoes. Fruitful: sculptures, music. When they can be enjoyed, it must be beautiful, that is, well constructed. Taste and pleasure have nothing to do with the objective beauty of something.

As an art educator I would only bring this video to the table in order to critique the mainstream perceptions of what art is as portrayed in this video. It's a reductionist idea to think that all people can come to position on art as valuable and relevant if the reading is uniformed, and it often is.
@alekjovanovski30875 жыл бұрын
Art is the highest of that what you decided to do. Its when you master some technique nearly to perfection. You made your own style, your principle of working ... Until you reach this point, you are only practicioner, an amteur in the field of art. Modern people think everything is art, ha ha. I find that really funny. This is how i describe it. I would be happy to hear your opinion on this subject.
@RelativelyBest5 жыл бұрын
@@alekjovanovski3087 My definition - and this is just my personal philosophy that I developed on my own with no formal education on the matter, so I don't pretend to be an authority here - is that artistry is "the process of refining a certain set of values particular to the artist", and art is the practical expression of that process. This is not exactly the same thing as simply mastering a given creative discipline. It's more about pursuing a personal ideal via that discipline. (The two do, however, tend to develop together in a sort of symbiotic relationship.) As an example, say a carpenter learns how to make a chair. Once he has perfected the skills to make a certain model of chair, he may apply this to other chair designs, and so on, until he can expertly craft a large number of different chairs. At this point he is extremely skilled at chair making, but that's still just craftsmanship; something you could learn just by following instructions or program a robot to do for you. It becomes art once our carpenter starts to consider how he thinks and feels about chairs - what chairs mean to him and what aspects of them he finds particularly important, pleasing or stimulating - and then tries to make chairs that embody those values as closely as possible. Now just replace chairs with music or paintings or narratives. That's my take on it, anyway. I hope it makes at least a bit of sense.
@alekjovanovski30875 жыл бұрын
@@RelativelyBest I think that you are more close to explaining the complexity behind art. even tho i study art. But the pursuit for art is subjective, it does not matter how one wants to learn about it (formal or not). I''m just happy when some one awake himself and start asking the question you mentioned. Good example.

Then we should stop calling everything art, in order to preserve the effort and discipline that a person musters over years of practice (with or without education). I call an someone an artist when that person has tried to perfect a certain discipline of creativity and is able to 'positively' create inspiring/creative thoughts in others. They posses uniqueness and quality not found in others. People nowadays with bad intentions use this in the wrong way unfortunately. A stuffed dead chimpanzee with finger nail paint and lipstick is not art, but a expression of degeneracy. A mockery of true beauty that is within the human being. However, many modern day 'artists' and 'art lovers' still say it is art because of the story and meaning behind it. I still will refuse to share their worldview ideas about art and expression. A banana taped on a wall with duck tape is not art. It was said that the banana taped on the wall was an expression of rebellion against the absurdity of capitalism. Why then do we not call all activists 'artists'? Aren't Antifa and BLM with their many expression and appearances then also not a form of art? See, people do not seem to care about the title, but the dominance in gaining a position of influence and power gained by the word 'artist' and 'art'. A portion of modern day artists want to control, dominate, manipulate, influence our perceptions of reality. Post-modernist thoughts and Marxism is what we are actually experiencing. This activism and rebellion against the society and the system. Yes, the artist of old often expressed their disdain of powerful individuals or their governments, but they did not intent to negatively alter the perception of reality of the peoples. Modern day 'artists' more certainly inject their own wicked and often untrue perception of reality, which is highly off-putting and sometimes even dangerous. However many people fail to notice and see this. People prefer beauty over wickedness. A child doll sawn in half with a dog doll lower half placed into a position of creepiness is not art, but an expression of disturbance and horror. What is it with these almost wicked thoughts that some 'modern artists' have? They truly get angry when you refuse to call their work 'art'. I call it an expression of degeneracy, corruption and defilement of nature and beauty. This development has happened before with the worst consequences for 'artists' possible. Because a small group got their way in corrupting society that even people fled from those habitations. Art stops being art when it corrupts and defiles people and society in general. Corruption and defilement through so called 'art' got so bad in the past, that people chose to ban certain forms of 'art' for being too pervasive, defiling and corruptive (look what happened to Berlin during the Weimar Republic). Art is supposed to liberate, inspire, improve and challenge our creative being in a positive manner. Not leave us with a 'disdain', 'disgust'' or even 'distrust' of our current generation of 'modern artists'. Then your 'art' has failed and turned against you. Do you view a gun pointed at yourselves in this same context as 'art' if that means you could express yourself? Ask people: what do you prefer as art, old classical art or modern day art. A vast majority will still prefer old classical art. I fail to notice the arguments the modern day artists have concerning old classical art. Are they confronted by the fact that the vast majority does not posses such quality of spirit and meaning within themselves? Old classical art is timeless and priceless. In this is found the answer what people rather define as art does it not?. Modern day artists who create true art out of passion, love, creativity and are determined to practice for decades are declining. Often they make it in our time and are exceptionally gifted. Millions of people around the world just study 'art' for a minimum of four years and think they have become an artist. The very vast majority of them won't make it in the end. You cannot have dozens of millions of people calling themselves artists. The meaning of art will then surely decline and finally disappear. The soul, uniqueness and spirit of art are then meaningless. I often have had major discussion about 'art', what 'art' is and how we can define 'art'. Always I hear people say: you cannot define what are it and isn't. Yet I see nor sense the spirit in 'art' in many works made by modern day 'artists'. In our days, the word 'art' is being defiled by con-artists who prefer to shock or confuse audiences with a large tendency of ego, narcissism and arrogance. They create aberrations, not 'art'.

...If art is defined as "anything that stirs emotions", that would mean that stuff like, say, a traffic jam or my cat or a suspicious sound late at night when you're alone can all be classified as art. Methinks that perhaps we need to narrow it down a _little_ bit more than that.
@emenz9105 жыл бұрын
Anything and everything is art if it makes you feel in a certain way the only thing that is not art, is if you don't feel anything towards something, to feel emotionless toward something.
@annalutz57494 жыл бұрын
a traffic jam, your cat, and a suspicious sound late at night could be inspiration. Perhaps the emotions inspired by these things could be embodied in an artwork. There are artists who create performances or experiences, perhaps the traffic jam could be art if done on purpose or filmed and edited in a way that conveys a message or evokes an emotion. I do agree with your previous replies that mention an artist developing skill and technique. I think this is an important part of the puzzle as well.

If a word has no exact definition it is pointless to argue about what is art. At this point in history art can be 10 000 different thing. In practice there is no consistency. Whatever most people consider as art is art. But it based on feelings, no logic involved.
@KeithCooney36 Жыл бұрын
GREAT explanation! As awesome as art is the only unfortunate thing is that some people will never be able to understand the thing that makes it art! And what I've discovered is the smarter someone is in all ways involving logic, reason, comprehension and possess high levels of problem solving are good at math and multi tasking exc the harder time they have understanding it but think they do because they think everything can be solved by the same tools they use for everything else! THIS is a great attempt though and I doubt I could articulate it any better as an artist myself!...one final note is imo anyone that doesn't see "A.i art" as an oxymoron and sees ANY room for a debate on it being "legit" ART Is completely CLUELESS of what art is!

Art is the geometric context of the visual field. That is the eternal pictorial subject never ending and never to be fully contained yet within which all visual culture is subsumed.
@pstotto2 жыл бұрын
Pre-20th C. pictures acknowledge that geometric context with the frame. That is the point of the frame. Abstract paintings have no frame, again this acknowledges the geometric context. The ignorance of collectors and gallerists is typified in for example a Guston painting put up for auction with a thin frame tacked on afterwards with no relation at all to the work of art. The modest picture with a modest frame suggests a wish to merely enjoy that scene without the grand and heavy stuff.

Create a painting. Hold it in front of you so the audience sees it. This is how most folks perceive art. But i enjoy art differenly. I enjoy takin the art apart and look into the head and heart of the artist. My dad does art after all... I dont stand in front of the painting like everyone else. I stand to your left and watch you hold that painting towards your audience. Art is sth that comes from your soul or from your heart. It's an expression of vulnerability . Take sth from the inside and express it in the external world. That was all... No para. I am not crazy enough to be unable to tell reality from fiction. Please remember that from now on... I dont feel comfortable if people perceive me through the lenses of a false assumption. Especially one like this 💀... And also dont forget why i care for you. Your art told me to and also cuz it is hard to oversee how caring you are for others. One can tell you put your heart and love into your art. It's clearly something very beautiful. That's why....

Art according to me is when you are in a creative state of mind, every artist will go through a creative slump during their lifetime and that moment should teach us all that in order to make art you have to be in that state of mind. When i go to art exhibitions and see for example a shoe laying on white table, i get furious! The reason i get furious is that the artist has put no effort in doing it, he/she found a shoe and just put it there. However, i would class this as "social art" because it awakens something in me and others. i think the main point about this type of art, it's all about the eye of the beholder. We who watched this "Shoe" lay on the table is the main focus, we are the art. So i think we need to divide art made from for example Van Gogh and "Social art" because people like Van Gogh, he sacrificed years of his life to paint. Everyone can put a shoe on a table, but nobody will be Van Gogh. There is talent and then there's a shoe on a table. But of course we all think different.

Very Good question when I started to think more about the topic it remains me at the times I was watching or listening something and I have to say “This is art” for instance and the first memory came to my head are music videos I usually see on my free time, the sound, the lyrics, the message and art behind the video It make me says “this is pure art” for instance and one the famous is Gotye - Somebody That I Used To Know but there are a lot of music videos on KZbin were made with that purpose of making feel the spectator like he is watching art and came from a very creative mind and artistic, from the meaning of the song until the art of the video you can feel how the artist is trying to give a message or just seeks to portray a personal experience or feeling and if you like it, you start to really admire the artist just to mention other music videos: Arctic Monkeys - Snap Out Of It, Vance Joy - Riptide, Crystal Castles - Kept, Son Lux - Alternate World, One day(Un dia) Dua Lipa, J Balvin and a lot of videos of The Weeknd I have to say. Another type of content where I find this is in movies (the seventh art) movies like: Shutter Island, The Arrival, The Shining, The Lobster, Parasite 2009 it really make me believe that this films take cinema to another level because as usual in movies the director is trying to tell you the plot just by dialogues or the script but what these movies have in common is that they are telling you a lot of things using visual resources so It is very admirable if you compare with other movies.

You may investigate an art movement called Neoplasticism, and Piet Mondrian, an artist whose work was very similar to these squares you see on the video. www.wikiart.org/en/artists-by-art-movement/de-stijl-neoplasticism#!#resultType:masonry www.wikiart.org/en/piet-mondrian
