Honestly, I kinda prefer how Ash didn’t really have big win streaks in the older series. It feels more realistic and like how it would actually be if this was a real sport competition. Plus it grounds Ash better and shows that he isn’t some crazy overpowered protagonist like how other shows would do it, he’s a normal trainer like everyone else and as such always has room to grow and adapt. That’s just my thoughts though. Also I don’t know if you intentionally mispronounced Stephan’s name at 11:59 , but if that was intentional kudos to you. That got a little chuckle out of me

From my counting, Ash in XY had 26 important battles so he won half of them at 13 (in a total of 131/140 episodes). In JN he have 147 episodes (with MPM's 11) so 74 is exactly half as well (but that streak is of 13 major battles). 13 isn't an unlucky number in Japan. If anything it reflects a nice analog for 8 Gyms + 5 Elites of challenges.

For SM episode 19, the Mudbray trainer's name is Hiroki. In the PWC, you glossed over Ash's victory over Lob, the Clawitzer trainer (Ash fought him between his wins against Hayden and Korrina).
