As a civil engineer, we need to be on top of course and learn every detail of small small things (Construction joint etc.). 🙏 Would be greatful if you can share your thoughts on how to mitigate on bearing capacity issues while constructing box culverts. (SBC - 4T/sqm against ideal 12 to 15T/sqm). Do not have liberty of increasing raft area. Would you be able to suggest me on sort of ground improvement techniques.

Depends on catchment area and economy of the structure, also good bearing strata is also required, if bearing strata is not available at high levels then box culvert is to be designed.

Sir I have a doubt... Aap ne jo explain kiya ki filter media is to remove water entering from weep holes... But if it so then why we provide weep hole... Agar humane weep holes nahi diye hote to water filter media tak nahi jayega na?

Nahi ji, weep holes 2 tarah se kaam karte hai. Ek jo water structure ke piche jama hota hai usko bahar laane ke liye taaki excessive hydrostatic pressure create na ho or paani weep holes se wapas bahar aa jaye, or dusra jab continuously river me water chalta hai to ye water wapas structure me enter karta hai, agar weep holes na ho to jo bahar wala aur ander wala hydrostatic pressure hai wo balance nahi ho paata to weep holes us pressure ko reduce karne ka kaam karte hai Nahi to structre damage ho sakta hai. Ye to ho gaya river wala case, ab aapne bahut cases me dekha hoga ki PUP & VUP me weep holes nahi diye jaate, us case me paani bahar nikaalne ke liye jo filter media hota hai uske sabse niche ek pipe rakha jaata hai, perforated pipe, jisme bahut saare holes hote hai, to paani us pipe se bahar aa jaata hai, to ab aapko samajh me aa gaya hoga ki filter media hum kyu dete hai, water ko bina road ko damage kiye hue bahar aane ke liye, agar filter media na ho to soil bahar aati rahegi or road beth jayega.
