Let me start with I agree with everything you said on this video Adam. However I have to argue that the candy concentrates are not just for use over a reflective base. I have had major success using the Lime Line concentrates over pastel colors to create depth on my art work especially when doing realistic flames. I have also used them to create pastel colors. In my opinion candy concentrates have a wide range of use. Probably some we haven’t even found or figured out yet! Great product! Lime Line is my go to supplier these days. My local jobber is not happy about it….lol

PERSONALLY I USE CUSTOM PAINTS AS MY SUPPLIER AND DIDPSADE FOR INTEREFERENCE PAINTS, THOUGH I HAVE FOUND SOME OTHER SUPPLIERS IN THE EU THAT ARE FAR FAR CHEAPER AND WITH THE SAME GREAT HIGH QUALITY. Downside is shipping cost and time but if I am planning it out a week delay is not that much of a PIA. And I advise the client of the delay and cost savings, seems they are ok with it if it saves em some $$$$

Good job explaining ! I would only add that, the size of a job is also important i would go with more base or mid-coat candy mix on bigger jobs rather than using concentrates and that there is true candies and so called factory candies. Which is widely advertised as quote " candy "

Factories also have a 4 stage. On the tri coats. Some are definitely a *candy*. At least with my mixing bank.

@@rtkl13 I'm sorry. What do you mean HOK would think different? Their dye is basically sprayed as a 2k clear. When concentrates are used. I add them to my 2k clear. What's the difference? I genuinely want to know.

@beardenjason2926 if your tinting clear with concentrates then yes you are correct. I was referring to factory tri-coats and 4s. Where the you have more transparent bases overlaying with other tinted clears and pearls

Any videos on how to prep ABS streetbike fairings? What sort of basecoat? A primer or something different? Also is this even possible painting a semi flexible plastic part? What kind of paint, only sheet metal is the tank an thats got an ABS gas tank cover. 06' CBR 600RR

Hey dude, absolutely love your content! Your art work is Beautiful. can I ask your advise on vinyl stencils and candy; is it best to allow the candy to dry fully then peel the vinyl stencil or should I remove when wet. I’ve found at times peeling the vinyl stencil has sometimes lifted the edges of the candy????

I know this is more cost effective than Name brands, but It doesn't seem as transparent as some candy's out there. I used the red and the lime line clear base 70/30, it just doesn't seem as transparent. Great for 99% of what I do, but it killed some of the detail in my artwork and coarseness of the metallic silver base, not a deal breaker, just something to keep in mind. Wasn't sure if anyone else has noticed this?

There’s no difference between clear basecoat and Interco clear they are the same. Sometimes they even called binder. Now regular clearcoat is different. It’s a two-part made to chemically harden and resist chemicals such as gasoline and has a UV inhibitor in them.

In addition to that answer, intercoat is typically used if the time to next coat will be outside of the window to continue. Same thing if one has to be interrupted on a paint job and intercoat clear makes it easier to continue progress. There are some downsides to it though. If you are using it to apply flake, sometimes ya get hard flake edges that protrude and sanding may actually wreck the process (or effect). By applying a clearcoat it builds up better (or applying the flake with a heavier clearcoat) and the edge problem is alleviated.

Too freakin funny man. I made a mistake by not diluting candy black in clearcoat and it obliterated my gold flake..............sigh. re-applied flake and continued, lesson learned. I actually came here to see WHAT TF my mistake was and FAFO..............Thanks Adam.
