For more than a decade, China's activity in Africa has intrigued Western countries. In most African countries, however, the Chinese partner is praised. In 2009, China became the continent's largest trading partner, ahead of the United States and France. In recent years, it has mainly lent billions of dollars to African countries for the construction of gigantic infrastructures, included in the "New Silk Roads" launched by President Xi Jinping in 2014.
But can China-Africa relations really be "win-win"? And what are China and its ambitious president looking for in Africa?
