Guys, I had a break through. This may be something called “Prickly Heat”. Try putting on some hydrocortisone cream for a couple days and see what happens. It seems to be working for me. If it seems to help, ask your doctor to prescribe some stronger cream.

I read through the comments section and felt a lot of empathy. I would like to thank you all for sharing your stories. I was diagnosed today with cholinergic urticaria, the one caused due to changes in room temperature or elevated emotions. I know its going to ruin my life just like it did yours. Let's try our best to face it and do the things we can do and want to do, otherwise life won't be worth it. I wish you all well from the bottom of my heart and always remember that you are stronger than your petty allergy!

I’ve had this for years and found the cure for me. It’s working out and breaking a good sweat first thing in the morning. For the first 5-10 minutes of my workout I feel the burn and get redness but it’s worth it to go the rest of the day as normal. I’ve had periods when I’ve been to the gym consistently with no days off and didn’t suffer any flare at all. I must’ve wiped out the histamines / triggers or something. Hope this helps.

I have dermatographism. It started in May slowly and no one knew what it was. From May to September I was constantly trying new medications, being given injections almost every night because I couldn't sleep. The itchiness never stopped. The most sleep I could get was 3h per night. I have never felt worse and more depressed than that summer. Now I'm trying to get used to it, some medicine is helping but nothing lasts for long. It's calmed down since the summer but it still makes me miserable. Plus doctors telling me there's really nothing I can do, they tell me to not stress. This disease is slowly ruining me and no one really understands it unless they have it.

Same, I keep reminding myself I'll break out into systemic hives if I scratch anything. Zyrtec helps me manage, but it's not bullet proof. 5 months of desensitization aka allergy shots - immunotherapy, treatments are the only thing that truly made a difference. Now it's a manageable condition, but I have my back up prednisone and epipens for emergencies.

I faithfully take a Zyrtec daily, but I initially took an allergy test to find what triggers me the most because I have severe allergies on top of this drama as well as eczema. I find that too much bread dairy and sugar really exacerbate this issue. Also when my immunity is down it's more of a struggle as well... Whatever y'all do STAY HYDRATED and away from too much soda.

I was diagnosed with chronic urticaria almost 4 years ago now. Ive been taking prescription antihistamines the whole time, 1 every 12 hours, god forbid I miss one. I got told it might never go away or it might one day just disappear. It seems to just get worse every year, causing eczema from itching so much now it's so painful can't ever touch my face without flaring up. Can't even wear make up anymore. I feel for anyone going through the same thing. More research needs to be done, it's so unheard of by everyone I know.

Mine started in early September with pain in my fingers and feet, like a burning sensation. I felt bruised and injured even though there were no marks. And then 5 weeks ago I developed the lumps, itching, it got worse two weeks ago. My lips swelled, it felt like someone was pulling my lips off. I get pains in my stomach, I'm losing 5ibs and gaining 5ibs, up and down since first week of September. After I've eaten food I feel severe pains in different parts of my abdomen. Sometimes I have nausea to the point where I eat nothing all day or once a day. I have an 8 yr old tattoo on my wrist and blood came up under the tattoo like it was trying to burst out. I don't have periods because I'm on depo, but everyday I feel like I'm bleeding even though blood doesn't come out. Wearing clothes, underwear, socks and shoes became uncomfortable and sometimes painful to wear. I had blood tests yesterday, 6 vials of blood to be tested. She named all the tests but cant remember what they're testing for.

Thanks that I found this video, I think i have Dermatographism, I've had it before in my teenage years, it was fun before because i can write at my skin, ang my friends were so amazed too, but it wasn't worst, it's itching but it's bearable... Then suddenly it goes away and I became totally normal... Then now that I'm in my late 20's it came back and it's the worst! 😭 It never let's me sleep peacefully at night, just a simple scratch in my skin can become huge because it's so itchy and burning that i can't help but to scratch again, then it's forever... 😭😭😭 It's so stressful... Then i accidentally eat seafood which is I'm allergic to, i had to take antihistamine, then i realized that my skin writing became mild at that moment, and I thought that maybe it's skin allergy or something so I've been taking antihistamines at least once or twice a day now, not unless i forgot and I'll definitely suffer the entire day... Now I watched this, and became a little educated about my condition, at least now I know that I'm not the only one having this... Some people are saying that maybe i have a dirty blood that's why i have this... 😅😭

Thank you for sharing. I had this when I was 7 years old. Im now 27 and it has started again. Last week I got a cold, and was given a medication called Gelodurat to help with my sinusitis. In combination to this I was extremely stressed out at work last week. I am now itchy all over my body, when I sleep, when I shower.. whenever I do anything. It's horrible. Antihistamines don't seem to be helping. Gelodurat can cause urticaria. I read this in the SmPc after I tried to work out what I had taken during the week i was sick. It's now been 10 days where I am extremely itchy and so fed up it's causing me so much grief. The issue I'm having is I love in Switzerland and I don't know how to explain this issue to my doctor..

You’re speaking as a person who has experienced these hives or as a person who has not experienced this? Because as a person who is currently experiencing chronic urticaria I can tell you that it does not matter if this is itching or not, the red, inflamed markings are embarrassing so to say that it’s not bothersome is a huge mistake.

What % of the population have life threatening dermatagraphia? I go into full blown anaphylaxis if mine is left untreated/unchecked. I was attacked by a swarm of mosquitoes, even while wearing repellent, and unknown to me at the time I had dermatagraphia. Naturally, I scratched all over and within 45 minutes I was in the ER. 2 Epi-Pens, a benadryl drip, prednisone, along with other medications I can't remember, saved my life! Now my dermatagraphia is worse than ever. I need zyrtec everyday or I start to flare up into eventual anaphylaxis. Fun times, but I suspect I'm something like 1% of the 1-3% of people who have this as a life threatening condition. Just curious, thanks!

I have been diagnosed with dermatographia for years now and it’s the worst. I get flicked, bump my wrist on a counter, itch a scratch and then 25 seconds later I have huge red welts that itch worse then a million bug bites. The more I scratch the more it itches and then I scratch more. I’ve learned to almost live with this and try to ignore the itchiness (especially after a shower or laying down for bed) but I was wondering if anyone out there had any advice or suggestions for me to get rid of this crap. Thank you any and all advice is appreciated.

I’ve been suffering from this as well for many years and finally started to try and find out the root cause and cure bc no medical professional can offer any advice beyond taking an allergy pill everyday. It seems to stem from an abundance of histamine in the body. That’s why an allergy pill will help but for me it was not enough. Histamine is produced in the body during an allergic reaction and there are many foods that naturally contain histamine. There are two primary enzymes in the body to break down histamine. One is DAO and the other HNMT. I found taking a soil based prebiotic and probiotic has helped my gut health which allowed my body to produce more of there enzymes necessary to break down the histamine in my body. This has seemed to cure my dermatographia

I could scratch my skin open and the worst is, scratching increases the hives 😭😭😭 I feel done!! I am SO NERVOUS that if she wears it she will get one enormous hive over her entire body causing a possible wound or infection. Mainly because the material of a gown is thick, rough and full of sequins. Am I worrying too much or is my concern legit?

I've suffered from Chronic Idiopathic Urticaria and Dermatographism. The type of Dermatographism I had was delayed. So the allergist would test me for it to see if I would welt up but I wouldn't. Then about 10 hours later, my skin would welt up & itch. I would call my allergist the following day to let them know the test was actually positive, it just took hours to show up. It was horrible. I would get it from clothes too. Awful.

Started intermittent fasting 6 months ago. IF is amazing if you haven't committed to it yet. But.... Hives appeared 2 weeks after starting. Figured it would go away since my body was detoxing from 5 years of junk food. Here we are with hives almost everyday! From what I've been reading for months it's related to the gut health. I'm not a doctor, but it seems to disappear for those who do a strick diet change. Especially and most recently those who stick with a carnivore diet for NO LESS than 10-12 weeks. Helps reset your gut. I'm definitely going to try it starting next week. I Love my veggies but finding out most of my favs are high in histamine such as spinach and avocados. Yea it sucks! I've only started this week keeping a food log. I'm also scheduled to see a natural path doc next month. This will be interesting. Stay cool and don't scratch friends! Just taking a shower (any temperature of water) causes huge welts all over my body. As does sweat. Even if I cry my face will become red and patchy and my lips and eyelids will swell up. ChristinaLConway I’ve been suffering from this as well for many years and finally started to try and find out the root cause and cure bc no medical professional can offer any advice beyond taking an allergy pill everyday.

Appreciation Doctor for your information. My Sister was suffering from allergy but after not getting results from allopathic drugs we switched to the natural, herbal ayurvedic remedies and we choose Planet Ayurveda's products and started with allergy care pack. I am happy to share that sista is perfectly fine now and our natural pathy is the best.

I've literally had Chronic Urticaria for 10 Years now, yes you heard that right 10 Years. Literally everyday in the morning I have one Citrizine Tablet, so that it doesn't arise. I've just gotten used to it now, take the medicines and that it I'm fine. I gave up years ago after having so many tests done, Doctors are useless, they couldn't find anything, so decided just to put up with it.

I have had the same thing for as long as I can remember. I take Zyrtec everyday to help the itching but the rash still appears. Now it seems I am also suffering from dermatographism.

Guys, I had a break through. This may be something called “Prickly Heat”. Try putting on some hydrocortisone cream for a couple days and see what happens. It seems to be working for me. If it seems to help, ask your doctor to prescribe some stronger cream.
