WOOOOW I needed this video. Despite being an AP for nearly a year now I still find myself questioning whether I’ve used my time in supervision efficiently. Thank you Miranda!

DOLL! Thank you so much for your comment :) Honestly, I feel like no matter how much experience you have, whenever your supervisor is like "what have you got for supervision today" it's like AHHHH 😂😂😂 glad you found it helpful!!

I'm more than half way done with my masters in counseling. I have my supervision coming up and this video was extremely helpful. Thank you. You answered so many questions and worries I had about it. I wasn't sure if it was normal to not really understand what the point of it all was and being embarrassed that I may not know certain things. This video was well done and easy to understand. Thank you!!!

These are relevant points. Supervision is pivotal to professional development. The rapport with a supervisor can create significant shifts in how a candidate progresses. I am almost done my masters in counselling psychology and have 3 supervisors for various aspects of career development. It can be quite expensive while training. Thank you for sharing these experiences.

Thank you for your honesty about the feeling of using supervision as a pre-reg! I get fortnightly 1:1 supervision and also group AP supervision fortnightly. I used to find it really tiring/ confusing but I think that is because I felt a lot of pressure to verbally articulate my reflections in a "psychology girl" way. Nowadays I just go in with a foot long list of practical questions + updates and do the reflect-y bit by myself on paper and sometimes send it to my supervisor!

Yeah I definitely get that. I think I used to see it as another exercise where I needed to "perform" which meant I wasn't really getting as much out of it as I could... Still a balancing act though!!

This was so helpful, thank you! I'm glad I'm not the only one who had no idea what I should be bringing to supervision when I started I'd appreciate a video on reflective practice if you're looking for ideas 😊

love this, super useful! and the humour lolol 😂😩 quick question, is there quite a lot of similarities and crossovers between clinical supervision for an AP and that of a trainee CP? great content thank you for sharing

I'm really worried that the Doctorate in Counselling Psychology program only requires 450 hours of supervised clinical work. Here in the U.S., to get a Masters in therapy, you need to get licensed with at least 3,000 hours of clinical work. How can someone be ready to be a licensed psychologist, be it counseling or clinical, with under 1,000 hours of clinical work? This worries me because I'm applying for Doctorate programs in the UK and hoping to move back permanently.
