Final generation of Pentium 4 processors were built on a 90nm fabrication process. Not 28nm. 4. A dual core CPU with HT is not equivalent to, nor does it become a quad core CPU. HT (or SMT) does not magically double your core count. It is just a way of keeping the execution units per physical core saturated by issuing instructions from two separate queues thereby ensuring that some work always gets done and almost none of the units stay idle. 5. Four physical cores are always more powerful that four logical cores, i.e. two physical cores with HT. 6. Laptop and desktop processors are very different. I mean very, very different. Laptop processors are optimized for power consumption and hence deliver lower IPC (instructions per clock) as compared to a desktop processor. Hence, they are never equivalent in performance.
