I have rolled down almost the entire internet to know the meaning, the actual meaning of DevOps, I had a picture in my head, but a clear picture. There was always a few things missing in all other places. I am a 4th year student, and I obviously don't know what happens in the IT offices. Rest all other explanations on the internet already assumed that I know what happens there. But DevOps is not a term like, say Data Science that it can be explained to anyone. It has some internal cultural aspects of the IT sector too. But here, you have explained me exactly what I am supposed to understand, and most importantly how! Thanks a lot! This is excellent!

DevOps is build to make developer life easy. In earlier days, where companies were not using DevOps philosophy, there was a wall between the development and operation teams, which lead to a delay in the release of new features. At that time the development team develops the product and sends it to the operation team, if any bug occurs while deployment then the operation team is notified and then they start the ticket of that issue. It was time-consuming. And in that scenario, lots of features were published at once as deployment was taking weeks & there was also an issue of security. Thus DevOps comes to solve this problem by destroying that wall and joining the Development (Dev) team and Operation (Ops) team. Thus DevOps. Here the developer will be working till the production and operation team will work with them. Also in DevOps small features are added to application one by one and they get tested and deployed. In DevOps, we use automation tools to build pipelines for making deployment faster. For Automation, there are three best practices in DevOps 1. Continuous Integration (Merging developer changes into the main branch of the project after getting changes tested) 2. Continuous Delivery (Takes your apps till production stage, but it provides you manual switch for an app to go in production) 3. Continuous Deployment (Here your app is directly deployed and there is no manual switch, only failed test can prevent it to deploy it in production) And 4. Continuous Monitoring (for feedback) Reply :)

'Integration' is a good buzz word to do. As an App Developer I would always think of 'Integration' as two systems containing their own applications having to interact with each other and needed to be tested beyond unit testing of applications in individual systems scope. So when I see 'Integration' used in 'Continuous Integration' I have to remind myself that this is probably the integration of the work from the development team and the work from the operations team.

Hello Hitesh, I think the tools that you have mentioned are also being asked by companies who are searching for devops engineers, the skillset of operations team are different than the development team, how can engineers in either development or operations team call themselves devops engineers .. I think the tools help in continuous integration/automation of the work done by development team and operations team separately and so the significance of the tools ..
