What is Dexamethasone ?
Dexamethasone is a synthetic long-acting glucocorticoid. It depresses formation, release and activity of endogenous mediators of inflammation, including prostaglandins, kinins, histamine, liposomal enzymes and complement system. And it also modifies body's immune response.
It is available as tablets, syrup, injection, and eye drops. and you may also find it combined with other active ingredients for various indications.
So Dexamethasone is used systemically and locally in a wide variety of chronic diseases including Inflammatory, Allergic, Hematologic, Endocrine, Rheumatic, Neoplastic, Respiratory, and Dermatologic. also used in management of cerebral edema, and as a diagnostic agent in adrenal disorders.
