What is Dharma? - Swami Swatmananda

Generally, Dharma is translated as duty or religion. However, the etymology of Dharma is "dhru" which means "to uphold / sustain / integrate / unite". The four key points in relation to the word Dharma are as follows:
1) That which binds all of us is Consciousness and Consciousness is our Dharma.
2) The real nature of a thing without which it cannot remain is Dharma.
3) Dharma includes both religion and philosophy.
4) Dharma is Vision of oneness which invokes Love, makes one follow Values and do one's duties.
