I think it is wrongly explained... because epeirogenic is sub part of Diastrophism and Volcanism is all together separate Endogenic process.

correction @2.13.. its the bigger or heavier plate goes under or called as subduction .lighter plate goes over the heavy plate ...source geomormphology scince by savindra singh
@PrinceKumar-mr4bo
@PrinceKumar-mr4bo 5 жыл бұрын
he said smaller at the place of lighter , but its ok . meaning is same , i think , because he did not write that statement . he only said that so the people can understnd his language
@tnverma_india
@tnverma_india 4 жыл бұрын
He didn't say lighter . He said smaller plate goes under bigger..and he's right. Smaller plate is denser e.g. oceanic plate...so it goes under bigger and less dense plate.

The definition given in the book of epeirogenic process is; upliftment or warping of large parts of the Earth's crust. However you mentioned that when magma reaches surface, cools and forms rock we make new portions. Are they both same? Doesn't look the same to me. Also the definition of epeirogenic you gave is similar to volcanism. Then what is the difference between volcanism and epeirogenic process?

Yes, epirogenic are two types submergence when land under water and emergence when land over the water.. Both the process where there is vertical movement of land.
@pratikmazumdar4237
@pratikmazumdar4237 2 жыл бұрын
The magma cooling and all is a example of meso where volcano and earthquake result in faulting. Understand that this is all about MOVEMENT OF LAND. Not about it's formation and all.

Thumbs up for such a succinct explanation. But at 2:09, it's actually the HEAVIER (bigger) PLATE that dives beneath the LIGHTER (smaller) one at the subduction zone.

Sir, I think Epeirogeny is vertical movement of a plate rather than vertical movement of molten magma. And Diastrophism includes i) Orogeny ii) Epeirogeny iii) Earthquakes iv) Plate tectonics You have only mentioned first and second.
