What is driving rehab?

My name is Susie Touchinsky and I am an Occupational Therapists & Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist.
As an OT Driver Rehab Specialist (OT DRS) it is my job to help drivers after an injury or illness return to the safest level of independence. I work with drivers with a range of conditions from stroke, Parkinson's disease, & multiple sclerosis, to Charcot Foot, peripheral neuropathy, amputation, & muscle dystrophy, to concussion, mild cognitive impairment, dementia, Alzheimer's disease and beyond.
It is my job to get to know the driver, understand their strengths, and help determine fitness to drive. Join me while I explore my role and process as a driver rehabilitation specialist with helping driver's find the best adaptive equipment.

I had drivers rehab at the Long Beach VA Medical center after a stroke which got my license back and driving once more. They were real professional and worked hard on my ccocentration and awareness which i really needed.
