I can relate so much!! I've never been a great Amitabha devotee, but when I went to the original Pure Land temple in Kyoto (Chion-in), which had almost a thousand years of history, the moment I entered the Imperial Buddha hall, it was like entering a pure realm. My perception entirely changed into emptiness suffused with great compassion, everything looked like a rainbow with colours I've never seen before, scintillating like gold and precious gems, impossible to describe... I sat listening to the monks chanting the Amitabha sutra for the dead, and I thought I NEVER HEARD ANYTHING SO BEAUTIFUL! Simple chanting, one monk chanting, another using some instruments, yet it was above and beyond any chanting I'd ever heard. It was SO touching! I felt that WAS Sukhavati, Amitabha's presence was everywhere. I vowed to return and to do anything I can to preserve this tradition, even taking rebirth in Japan for this purpose. I will never underestimate Pure Land Buddhism again. I will go back to Chion-in as often as I can. May all beings with a karmic connection be reborn in Sukhavati. 🪷🙏

Rejoice Rejoice Rejoice!!! It gives me goosebumps to hear about your experience. Nanmo Amituofo. FYI. Mipham Rinpoche has a teaching on Sukhavati, where he quoted multiple sutras including , and . Believe it or not, Mipham Rinpoche's teaching is actually consistent with Pure Land Buddhism which relies on Buddha's power not ours. His root text is not yet available in English, only in Tibetan and Chinese. Good news is 2 out of the 3 sutras mentioned above were translated by 84000. May all beings gain the wisdom and merit to encounter this amazing Dharma gateway of achieving the ultimate Buddhahood in one life time. Nanmo Amituofo!
