What's the difference between enduro and trail riding?
@ozzydavies98526 жыл бұрын
It depends on the parts you have on your bike but my enduro is fast and handles uphill and downhill well,but it isnt mastered so its a jack of all traits
@alvarezherrera6665 жыл бұрын
trail = shorter local distance, less time riding, more practical ride(less competative with uphill or downhill riding), bike is more nimble, less suspension, weigth is not as important, less gear range, flat pedals, shorter chainstays. slacker head angle, less bb drop.......
@beginneronabike82125 жыл бұрын
They are practically the same thing but enduro is definitely alot more competitive then normal trail riding
@Quicksilver_Cookie5 жыл бұрын
Omg, enduro is literally just a competitive trail riding. Bikes differ slightly just to accommodate specific parameters characteristic for racing. That is all. No need to overthink it, really.

Enduro racing is a race discipline, thats like asking what's the difference between the FIA GT Championship or (GT Racing) and a loacl track day.
@DiegoRuiz19918 жыл бұрын
I love one enduro event in my area. Trails are fairly cool and every minute on the link roads counts as 1 second. You can actually make up quite some time against the lazy DHers! Also, there is some money for the fastest "flag to flag" riders (everything counts) so you can approach it as some weird XC race too!

Thanks this was so needed. Now I'll watch it again in slow motion to get what I missed. Ok, second time around. " generally your ?( 1:36 lays, delays) don't count to your over all time. But just be sure to check this..." This helped a lot. I had no idea there was such an event, though I've heard you mention Enduro often enough. I thought it was just one longer distant MTB event. Now I know it's something completely different. Do you have to use the same bike in all the stages? I could see some sponsored rider using a down hill bike for the down hill stages and hard tail for climbing stages.

Great channel boys. Love to see some direct bike comparisons. enduro to enduro instead of 26 to 27.5 to 29 etc. your opinion on how they ride and where the changing terrain might influence what bike you buy. e.g., best enduro bikes for north shore riding, or for bike park riding.

@georgesaba75737 жыл бұрын
I've always said I ride enduro, but I think I may be incorrect. A typical ride I'll do with friends is we bomb a downhill trail, we'll pedal another couple miles to the nearest easiest climb, then we'll climb the trail back to our cars. Would this be considered enduro or xc? Ik I'm kinda rambling at this point but I thought I'd mention that my bike is an enduro bike also (intense tracer 275 aluminum)

Would a enduro bike such as a giant stance or trace be good for jumps and general shredding for a beginner / intermediate
@sausage94557 жыл бұрын
Ed Marsh a stance and trance are not enduro bikes they are trail bikes (the geometry and suspension make them better climbers but not as quick down hill) I have a stance, it was my first decent mtb, i changed the gears to xt 1x and tyres straight away as they werent very good and the brakes are also pretty rubbish but the fame and suspension system are good for the price. In hindsight i wish i bought a second hand bike with all the features i wanted.

i dont get the point of intervals between stages that are necesary but dont matter...if they make them meaningful (beyond the riders just being more tired than if they were pure downhillers, thats not really an elegant seperation from the other branches of mtbing) then i'd want to get into it, but right now it looks like xc is for me

Just started looking into MTB racing yesterday. Would MEgavalanche be an Enduro race?
@ryanparret77755 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is a very long and difficult enduro/marathon.
@wernerrietveld5 жыл бұрын
No. Mass start, and a very long track without repetitions would make it a marathon. Having said that, the length and the type of terrain covered would probably mean that riders excelling in the enduro discipline would win in from experts in XC or marathon (because the race is only going downhill, and for the marathon men way to short) and from downhill experts (they usually race for not much more than 5 minutes, where the megavalanche takes about 45 minutes) Maybe it is just it's own category.

@EricFB8 жыл бұрын
Good or capable? They will do it but they are heavier and more slack than an xc bike. If your plan is to go on long cross country treks, you're better off with an xc bike. If you're dreaming of the decent the whole time you're climbing, get an enduro.

#ASKGMBN hi guys, i'm soon to buy a new bike. what are the main/key differences between a trail and an enduro bike?
@yintaozen53535 жыл бұрын
The suspension travel, if Trail MTB Bikes the travel for fork only 140-150mm Max and for the rear shock is about 3-5 inch max. For the Enduro, at least you needed 160mm fork travel suspension and (at least) 6 inch rear shock travel Last but not least, the tire sizing minimum is about 2.40 whether it's 27.5 inch or 29 inch wheelset for the Enduro bikes and for the Trail Bikes 2.35 is maximum if I'm not wrong, because bigger than that size just make you difficult to tackle the uphill section with the limitations that Trail Bikes had

do you need a full face helmet for enduro?
@Tuckersteward8 жыл бұрын
+Benjamin Thomas most rules say you do need a full face helmet for the race but you are allowed to carry 2 helmets so strap full face to your back pack and then wear partial and just switch but be sure to check with your local guide lines it depends how fast you can get going
@gmbn8 жыл бұрын
+Benjamin Thomas exactly what Trucker Steward said, all depends on the event and organiser some you do and some you don't. I'd suggest checking the rule book when you enter the event. Of course though a full face helmet does offer more protection and I find it confidence inspiring to ride wearing one especially for racing.
