You both say all of these things are in the scripture, but I can’t find it. Where does it say in the scripture that the son is the same essence as the Father . The word ontology is not in the scripture.

I have a question :) God is self-sufficient, not dependent on anything and anyone. How can we then say Jesus is God if he derived his essence from the father in eternity past? I know otherwise we would have three gods but I'm struggling to understand how I can say Jesus is God but his essence is dependent on the derivation from the father. I really appreciate any help!

We acknowledge Jesus as God because God the Father treat His Living Word as God. David said "the Lord said unto my Lord..." (Psalm 110 : 1), and believer can only have 1 God (I Cor 8 : 6), right? So God wanted David to called his Lord (Jesus) as Lord too, just like David called God, Lord. So the Living Word of God became flesh (body & soul/ mind) (John 1 : 1), this flesh was glorified after the ascension. What about His Spirit? Is Jesus's Spirit (Act 16 : 7) was like the same spirit as us human? The answer is beyond your question, so I'll wait for you first. Gbu for asking

Against my will I subjected myself to this absolutely ridiculous conversation of two men that went to seminary(cemetery), and now live there teaching others their dead doctrine. Eternal generation is absolutely ridiculous in every way imaginable and total heresy; simply put, you end up with a begotten God. Jesus Christ is now a "little god", though they will not tell you this. They can play all the philosophical word games they want to, all they do is prove they are the spoilers in Colossians 2:8 "Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ." opera ad intra, opera ad extra, divine generation vs human generation......word games and philosophy. These two Doctors of Divinity would be the guys present at Nicea in 325AD along with all of their buddies. That council only furthered the Roman Catholic variety of Christianity and you don't have to look very far to figure that one out. Constantine convened that council, there is plenty to read about him on the web. Notice how often these men reach for their Bibles, or how many verses they quote, I believe I counted 2 in the one hour lecture. The Son of God did not exist until he was born of Mary(Luke1:35), it was at that moment that the Word of God, was made flesh, underived in a way, and in no way begotten except in His earthly nature. The Word of God was joined to flesh, Emmanuel, God with us. Many men have defended the true doctrine of Incarnate Sonship, and some have lost their lives because of it, being burned at the stake. Defenders of Incarnate Sonship are Adam Clarke, Samuel Richardson, Albert Barnes, James Graves, Walter Martin, and Gilbert Beebe to name a few. These mentioned men will work the pages of the Word of God proving their doctrine with the Bible itself, not sitting at a round table talking about non-scriptural, man-made, philosophical ideas. The Bible interprets itself. These two men are just that......men. I wonder if they generate income from their book sales?

Point of analogy..... Is woman any less human (created in the image of God) because she is functionally subordinate/submissive to man in marriage and or church life?? I personally do not see or have a problem with an authority/submission structure in the Godhead! I do not see that the one in authority is superior to the one who submits, whether in the Godhead or in the creature! It does not make the Son any less God to be in a place of subjection or service (to His Father) as it would make the woman any less than man's fully equal in the imago dei.......Jesus sat down at the right hand of the Father (God) a place of authority after His Ascension He is forever now the God-man, He reigns now at His Father's right hand (a position of authority) until He subdues all of His enemies and delivers the kingdom to His Father 1Co15:24-25 I see authority structures in the Godhead both eternal in the Father sending the Son and in the incarnation, when God the Son takes on humanity and becomes the God-man and who now sits at the Father's right hand subduing His enemies and who now also intercedes for us to the Father! (the Father is not interceding on our behalf to the Son) Jesus (the Son) was the Lamb slain from all eternity Rev 13:8 the same cannot be sed of the Father nor of the Spirit! an older layman's muse

You may want to learn how to rightly divide scripture before posting on a public forum. John 17 is Jesus praying to the Father in His earthly nature, not divine. In John 8:58, Jesus says that He is "I AM". Jesus is Jehovah in His divine nature, by His own mouth. I assume you likely use the NWT and do not have the words..."thy throne, O God, is forever and ever" from Hebrews 1:8 in which the Father calls the Son, God.
