What is Femininity in Islam? | Shaykha Umm Jamaal ud-Din

With all the various gender debates and narratives Muslim women are confronted with in this day and age, so many sisters and even brothers have been left feeling quite confused about what defines femininity in Islam. This short talk which was given recently to Muslim students at the University of New South Wales, is an attempt to bring some clarity and balance to this topic In sha Allah.

I would love to see you (or anyone, for that matter) do a video or presentation on what the role is of older Muslimahs in Islam and in society. I've never anything on this topic, despite older women reverting to Islam, and of those, quite a few have no Islamic family. It appears that they are shut out, invisible, and voiceless online and in Islamic society.

Also, it is disingenuous for anyone to dismiss this population because "they are not online." This is not true, especially in the West, and while they may not be online in the same numbers as those under 40, it is dismissive of their needs.

Not completing year 12 is not a reason for not knowing how to homeschool your children I didn’t complete year 12 but people ask me to help them prepare programing to homeschool their children and tutor their children because I was homeschool and I have a passion for gaining knowledge even if I don’t get a certificate to show it. It is up to each of us to gain knowledge if we make excuses that is just an excuse. If you really want something you will find out how to do it and do it. Alhamdulillah. May Allah guide us to be the best versions of ourselves.
