Imo their biggest failure is how the combat can only become more difficult by bosses just getting longer combos. They need to incorporate new challenges without just extending combos

Statistically speaking Demon's Souls was only FromSoftware's "failure" as all their past projects reached "black status" relatively easy due to lower budget that could be recouped then reinvested into their next project with small profits on the side Reaching black status or being in the black basically means one project made enough to cover the next project then said project covered the other one

I just platinumed bloodborne a couple days ago I have been putting it off for almost two years because i was dreading the chalices, I beat them in about 30 minutes I cant defend them but I don’t think they are the worst thing fromsoft has ever done mainly because ds2 exists

This is optional content designed to keep you playing the game while obtaining blood echos , Bloodgems to customize your weapon and some lore on top of that or even better to use this stuff in PvP. They aren't perfect but I say this is very good for what is trying to be (opcional content), that's why you have the main campaign of the game separately. I know you're just want to make your video entertaining but your first mistake was talking the chalice dungeons too seriously to begin with, I would take those chalice dungeons instead of the genetic caves in ER any day of the week.

They were horrible for pvp, ruined any sense of balancing. The mini dungeons in elden ring were way more varied in their layout and actually had handcrafted level design concepts, some poor but alot good. The content was made to be much more easier than anything the legacy dungeons could offer but unlike chalice dungeons, they never outstay their welcome. The main criticism would be the bosses they had, some were fine but most were not but honestly they didn't need bosses in every single dungeon, the layout and exploration with the unique gear reward is more than enough. I'm glad the dlc forges they didn't put any bosses in them

I feel like Dark Souls 2 is massively misunderstood. After Dark Souls 1. The get good meme and the elitism surrounding beating the game is what led the developers to create Dark Souls 2 the way they did. The community literally asked for that game but won't stop crying about it.

The issue with this is the fact you have to do all of this for the platinium

@Rosegx you don't, Trinspetor(who has also made Cummmfpk) has a chalice that you can use with ps plus that allows you to fight Queen Yharnam without doing almost any chalice dungeons.

I think its important to judge them from the perspective of what they try to be. The chalice dungeons imitate the rougelite genre, which always feature repetitive, yet randomised content but its the gameplay loop, varied content and character build creation in each run that helps keep it fun. If you've never played any, id recommend hades 1. They are ment to be enjoyed in small bursts. The point is too replay them and master these core loops to become as efficient as possible and finish the game or run with mastery of the tools provided in the run. Unfortunately BB half assess this concept and so it fails even on the premise. There is no sense of character progression past the difficulty, the blood gems are just not it, they dont even offer the variety of build creations in Dark souls past minor number tweaking. The content just isnt varied enough and the gameplay loop never varies past find room with lever, find room with chest for ritual items then kill boss. The souls games work because of their level design AND combat, the chalice dungeons absolutely fail in offering any intresting level design that feels like an actual human made them, even the mandatory dungeons feel generated, with so many nonsensical dead ends. Loran and Isz are just color sawps for the most part and Isz, for being the last dungeon type has the worst boss and enemy roasters. Elden ring Nightreign seems to be taking proper steps in being a rougelite, tho it may not have proper level design, it is designed around an open map field and actual chracter progression with a focus on coop and an even more larger pool of bosses, so hopefully they do it well this time.

I feel like the same could be said about the dungeons about Elden Ring. In concept ER has the same formula for it's dungeons as BB. Granted it is at a much greater quality. More traps, the AI is better. But the boss and enemy designs for the dungeons in ER get really stale really quick. I have yet to play Bloodborn(I should be able to emulate it within the month) but the biggest reason I have always hated replaying Elden Ring is because of the dread doing any of the dungeon content again. Maybe I will include an edit after experiencing BB chalice dungeons
