My favourite crash courses end up being the ones on subjects in school that I hated learning like history. Looks like geography is going to be a new favourite as it's focused less on "knowing" facts and more on understanding why the facts came to be.

I just have to say that John and Co have really upheld their promise of rigor and balance. As someone who saw the first attempt at CC Human Geography and how divisive it was, this is a brilliant new approach. Well worth the 4 year wait.

I took a geography class several times in college and high school (About 2 times for fun, 2 required). I passed each time. Each time they taught me something new. And each time they were just about the basics. And each time they were immersive and massive filled with such a strong world view. I wish we loved Geography more. The people that know less tend to be the most self-repressed.

My interest in history of any kind only really goes so far (within certain limits) but my Geography teacher (who was also my history teacher) gave me so much courage (which I feel quite acutely even to this day) that this subject will always be a soft spot for me.

I love how bananas are always an example of geography videos. We talked about this constantly in my undergrad classes at Rowan University. Somehow we all were independently drawn to learn about the geographical ties bananas have, and in all of my classes, you could always tell which students were geography buffs by bringing up this topic. I'm so happy it was covered. Also, fuck banana companies.

Just a heads up - your definition of factoid is incorrect. I only learned recently it means; an item of unreliable information that is reported and repeated so often that it becomes accepted as fact. "he addresses the facts and factoids which have buttressed the film's legend"
