The guy that plays Marty the stoner is one of the stars on the Joss Whedon show, Dollhouse. One of my favorite shows ever. It’s on par with Buffy and Angel for me.

fun fact, the actor who plays marti was too jacked to play the stoner cliche, that's why he was the only one wearing a shirt in that swimming scene earlier xD

Joss had this movie concept in his head for years. The first time he played with it was in Buffy season 1, episode 10, "Nightmares". Xander begins down a horror hallway full of Nazi swastikas' but at the very last second he veers off and picks up a candy bar. Thus 'unlocking' the clown monster instead of Nazis. Also, the clown from that episode is damn near the same clown as the one in this movie.

First of all, your hair looks amazing. Now about the movie, this is such a good one. I love how it completely deconstructs the horror formula in a surprising way that doesnt feel like just a forced concept idea but an actual plot

You should definitely watch Dollhouse - Amy Acker, Fran Kranz (Marty), Eliza Dushku, Alan Tudyk, Summer Glau, Alexis Denisof are the ones you'll definitely recognize - and so many other fantastic actors that I don't know if you'll have seen before - Enver Gjokaj, Dichen Lachman, and Tahmoh Penikett are fantastic

So many fun meta references to horror movies and a very clever way of explaining the horror movie happenings with something sinister underneath. You know that Whedon is going to take a genre and deconstruct it in an interesting way when you watch one of his movies

This is such a fun movie, especially for lovers of the horror genre. So many tropes being used and explained away in this universe while just going absolutely wild towards the end. Loved rewatching it with you!

Whedon done a really good job here as Producer and Co-writer with Director Drew Goddard, who also wrote many episodes of BTVS and Angel in their final seasons. Kinda like a more gory Scream in the sense all the Horror Film Tropes are used here to great effect. A couple of Buffyverse actors thrown in here Tom Lenk who was Andrew in BTVS and Angel and also played Cyrus in BTVS too, and Amy Acker, Fred from Angel and Dr Claire Saunders in the most underrated Whedon show Dollhouse, we also has Fran Kranz here as well who was Topher in Dollhouse. A really good concept here with some crazy scary monsters, and great special effects as we never know where the film is really going. The killings are very graphically brutal, but work well within the story. All in all a good entertaining film.

This was filmed around Vancouver. The cabin (at least the exterior view) was built in Robert Burnaby Park, near the frisbee golf course. I wandered through the set a couple of times on the weekend when nobody was there. They had all these little fake trees built, for when they wanted the woods to look even more woodsy. They also built a big green screen set at the other end of the park but I don't remember what was there well enough to figure out what they used it for.

This movie is super meta. They are creating a horror for the gods, and a horror movie for us the viewers. They show nudity because the ancients (audience) expects it. The (movie) director steps in when the victims (actors) need to stick to the script. One big (movie) sacrifice a year to keep the ancients (audiences) happy. Love it 😂

12:00 thank goodness that humans don't have proper pheromone receptors, also our sense of smell compared to every other animal, is laughable at best. lol. I still love this movie though, i just dislike the "pheromone" trope. $100 says that Marty's had a perfect GPA since Kindergarten, so " The Fool" is bit of a stretch.
