After this ep, it confirms that lakan is not the mastermind[still sus of him] think about it: 1. If he wanted to assassinate jinshi, then he wouldn't have vouched for maomao , its stupid after setting up an elaborate plan. 2. His face at the end probably was genuine shock because he didn't think she was gonna get hurt 3. Then there's the death stare he gave to the guard. He was genuinely angry seeing his daughter hurt.

About the urgency: Think about who is carrying her here. All these people ah the ceremony bow to Jinshi which indicates that he is a noble high up the ranks. So HIM personally carrying a mere servant of low birth is practically unheard of. Almost a scandal. Normally there would be servants to care for Maomao. The fact that he is carrying herself shows to everyone how much he cares about her. So this alone is scandalous. If he a noble would then run, that would be next level scandalous. So he restrains from that.

Also, with the clothing he was wearing, running would be rather difficult as it's ceremonial attire that is basically like a thick dress I'm pretty sure so, not exactly prime running clothing.

You have to be very careful with injured people, especially if they’re bleeding out and possibly concussed. He’s been around Maomao long enough that he’s probably heard her discussing proper transport of injured people. If he could get her on a gurney, properly supported and carried by people that know what they’re doing, some speed can be allowed, but you don’t want to jostle someone in her condition unnecessarily.

Also: Running with someone that has a concussion is a supremely bad idea. Also it's really easy to get into your feels with this show so please never apologize for doing so. Just shows that you have empathy which I think is our greatest trait.

It’s not made up, it’s clearly intentional and part of the storytelling. Maomao reviles him and Jinshi is constantly aggravated by him - the two main POVs of the audience are turned against him so it’s only natural that the audience follows suit.

@@Timmycoo The way they depict Maomao's feelings towards him before the latter part of the seasin is clearly shown to be a dislike or hatred considering the death stare she gives Jinshi for even mentioning Lakan's name. And while yes, Faroh puts a lot of her biases into the reaction in immediately assuming rape, the show does a lot to make you at least think that Lakan has done something bad enough to warrant hatred from his offspring, hence the death stare from Maomao, and considering the fact that Lakan had already mentioned considering taking Maomao's mom without consent, the stretch to Lakan being a bit rapey ain't too far, obviously the ending of the season recontextualizes all these previous scenes (tho the comment about wanting to take her without consent is still a bit icky, but those were people in power in the olden times I guess) so we know he's not a rapist or even the one who directly gave the mom syphilis, but before then, the show is clearly tryig to throw a red herring in that direction.
