Heartfelt and well said, Ben. I think you beautifully articulate how many Spurs supporters are feeling, that, yes, we are frustrated but we also know the value the Ange project brings to the club and understand the importance of pushing through difficult periods. I think many Spurs fans don't realise that their strong negative reactions are a trauma symptom that stems from years and years of their hopes for the club being smashed through failure. And that is why going from sublime, thrilling football to drab disappointment takes such a toll. Everyone needs to remember that this is a process. Yes, this Spurs team is capable of beating ANYONE, but finding the strength and talent to do it consistently is something that takes time and effort. It's obvious that Spurs have improved, and while it might not seem like it right now, they HAVE become more consistent. Look no further than the couple of draws Spurs have had in the last month. Remember, under Ange Spurs would never draw. In the past we would have lost those games, and now they're draws rather than defeats. Al least, that's the way I see it. Thanks, Ben, for your positive outlook. I think Levy & the board have to back Ange strongly during the coming transfer window, and bring in one or two experienced players.

@sidehalls4 күн бұрын
Here's my take: a lot of fans resort to vocalizing strongly that ange should be sacked because, and we can all agree, the results haven't been good enough, but more importantly because thats the one thing a lot of fans feel like they have control over. Fundamentally, despite how it often feels, the club in some capicity has to keep the fans happy. If many fans are not happy with the manager, the manager is more likely to get sacked. Then a new one comes in, the fans are happy for a while, and then the same thing happens. Unfortunately, spurs fans are very familiar with this pattern. It's clear that the majority of the fanbase feels that the failings of the club for many years now is the result of much more systemic issues within the ownership of the club. The source of frustration within the fanbase is the result of the fans not feeling in control of or connected to the club in any meaningful way because of this. The fans pay huge amounts of money to attend games, matching or even exceeding that of other much more successful clubs, and so they (understandably) feel that they are entitled to comparable success. Currently, the only actual connection the fans have comes from this frustration. But I think what is important here is that the fans do have control over separating the club and its legacy from the current management. This is why I'm personally 100% Ange In. The way I see it, the only hope there is of truly exposing the poor management of the club at its highest level is to not accept doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. I don't want to discount the fact that Ange has to take responsibilty for consistent poor performances, but the thing is, he does and he will continue to because he IS a good manager and it's in his job description to take responsibility. Even when it's realistically out of his control or not entirely his fault.

So, I have attempted to be a new Tottenham fan. An Aussie who loves AP and thought, I’ve no real connections or loyalties in the Premier League. Why not get on board! I’ve been on plenty a fun ride following Ange P. And I’m a big consumer of all sports! I have to be honest, I’m not sure I could sit in a corner with Tottenham fans. Go to war with them and be content and happy. Sadly, it’s more likely that I will hate this club with venom for the rest of my days! It feels like the end for me too! Everyone knows Daniel Levy is a coward whose self interest will always come first. I don’t see how this comes back into shape. And besides, after all of this, if by some miracle AP gets to stay. He would leave the day after winning his first trophy with the club. Who could forgive this fan base for its behaviour and treatment of this manager?

Spurs could have Pep, Klopp, Ancelotti as manager and they won't win anything cos Levy won't back them like the winners get backed.. yet fans will blame the players and manager and keep turning away that the common denominator which is Levy and ENIC.. turned the football club into a business with other events and put the trophy success in the back seat But people will say look at the stadium and training grounds etc, yeah but do you want trophies or do you just want to have the best property? @there_is_no_switch4 күн бұрын
Ben, I think you're right about where the root of the problem is - Levy. But I think it's not the level of backing for the manager or Levy's ambition that's causing the problem. Clearly Levy is ambitious, he's built one of the best stadiums in the world, and you can look at recent spend and we're backing managers. The problem is simply who Levy is. If you buy into the idea that an organisation takes on the characteristics of its leader, Levy is an incrementalist, not a winner. He's brilliant at taking something and making it better a little bit at a time. If you dig back far enough into our earnings reports you can see how he's been chipping away at sponsorships, merchandising, training facilities, the stadium and the team for 2 decades. In footballing terms, he's a Gary Neville, a very solid a reliable player who does the right thing week in and week out. What you never get is the sudden unexpected pass or the ballsy dribble to transform a game. He's not the player who will lift the team on his back and demand nothing but victory. Manchester City transformed almost immediately they were taken over. Most people point to the money pumped in but it's the desire of the leadership to win that is imbued in every part of the organisation that makes the difference. I'd hoped Scott Munn might provide that, but it doesn't seem to be doing much. James

Every single fanbase has an impatient element that can turn toxic. It’s laughable that I keep hearing from Spurs fans and rival fans claiming the Spurs fanbase are anymore toxic than any other fanbase. Arsene Wenger was hounded out by Arsenal fans. Liverpool fans turned mental on Roy Hodgson. Chelsea fans lost it over Rafa Benitez. And so on and so on. I will admit that there is a more broader sense of impatience in the Spurs fanbase currently, but it seems absolutely reasonable having watched the club owners grow the club commercially off the pitch for 20 years, the stadium/facilities, and raising ticket prices to the highest in the league. But what is the point of any of that if it doesn’t result in on the pitch success? It’s not entitled when the club is turning over huge revenues, squeezing fans financially, the south stand is bigger than a fair few of the stadiums in the PL, and yet we’re constantly told to accept another “project season” and no trophies. Results in a miserable existential crisis if nothing changes on the pitch.

exactly. If the hierarchy don’t change their attitude or go away, it won’t matter who the manager is.

There are alot like me who wanted this to work. But the truth is he is so tactically naive its un real! We have defenders like romero vdv and radu we should not be opened up like a tin of been 10 times a game ! And the final straw for me was when asked after roma would you take a 1-0 win and couple of draws to go through he said no! Hes pub league material and i see it now hes been worked out and cant do anything to change it! Game after game i see opponents managers giving instructions after instructions whilst he stands there hands in pocket head shaking hes a fraud and i see it now! Just watched jamie redknapp interview kieran mkenna at Ipswich training ground , hes a manager who plays good football but also changes things up very tactically aware , you could even argue him getting them from league one to prem is a bigger achievement then winning league in Scotland

Let’s face it. You have stelios and savva who lead the negative sentiment against the manager. They seem to think they have a duopoly on facts and statistics. Selective numbers that show the spurs are crap under Ange. As if the baseline reference is a historically successful club with a full trophy cabinet. Winning is like cryptonite to spurs fans. When we get close it is uncomfortable. This guy is trying to change that.

Some fans don't want Ange out because of the manager roundabout. But If he is sacked we will have to change anyway, so if he is rubbish we might as well change before things get any worse. Is Ange a liar when he says it is on him. A lot of people seem to think Ange doesn't mean it when he says, he doesn't coach, or results don't matter but entertainment does, or that he has the squad he wants and doesn't need anything else. I for one want a manager who is involved with the team, and who is a proper coach, who knows it is important to play players in their right positions, and takes notice and adapts to how other teams are set up. and also makes substitutions in a timely manner to affect the outcome of a game and values each and every result. For me Ange doesn't do any of these things, so he should go and we should get someone who gives a shit.

Being results focused is 100% loser mindset. A business isn't judged solely on profit/loss, things like employee retention, customer satisfaction, workplace injuries etc are all as important indicators of a company's progress. Ange is rebuilding a club from the youth system up. Only a fraction of that rebuild is visible on any given matchday, so why only judge matchday results? You also need to accept that football is largely a game of chaos, luck and chance. If you look at underlying numbers, Tottenham are improving in all areas of the game. Focus on the process, results will come. That's not just good footballing advice, it's essential life advice.

@mauddib17614 күн бұрын
doesn't really make any sense while Spurs are still in the cups as well. If they do want to make a change then do it at the end of the season as there aren't any decent managers who will want to join mid-season. It also makes sense if they do eventually sack Ange to get all their ducks in a row and look at managers who would fit with the current squad. No point sacking someone and replacing them with a guy who'll want to sell the first-team players. When you listen to the players talk as well they seem to know what they are meant to do but just aren't doing it. Let him have until the end of the season and see where we are then. I think if we give him until then we'll at least have a decent cup run anyway. However we get into Europe, if we do that then he should keep his job so give him the whole season and then decide. It's not a disaster at the moment, but it's not great either so pretty much like every other season

Mate I understand you love out Tottenham, if Ange wants to win he needs to stop this bullshit with Werner. Everyone knows, check the stats on progression with Werner. There isn’t once. Ange is trying to force out Sonny point 2, btw. Since Werner arrived he keeps playing Werner in Sonny’s position. Son is a world class winger, and who the fk is Werner, Sonny isn’t a striker, he’s not strong enough to take on two massive defenders and a midfielder. Sonny strongest when running at a defender. And that’s why I think Ange is a sneaky underhanded ct, Werner is less than ten percent the winger Sonny is. We win when Werner isn’t in the team 💯 fact

Nothing. Top 4 in the league for goals scored top 4 for least goals conceded. We aren't real Madrid dispite what some 'fans' think. The football is night and day better than the last 3 managers. Rome wasn't built in a day. You'd think we had a title winning squad with the rubbish spouted online.

What on earth is that head line The End. Yes we haven’t done so well at present. But for crying out loud. Yes fans do have the right to express their opinions but that verbally. And headers like the end. It becomes toxic. That doesn’t help anyone.

Fans and social media won’t sway the decision one way or another……………the players will though. There are worrying signs that they are no longer buying into it. Injuries of this magnitude are a by product of the style of play. If the players give up on it then i’m afraid it’s over - the results are not good.

blame levy all you like or any other scapegoat the fans find, fans been throwing tantrums at every turn for 10 months destabilizing and sabotaging any progress, what the hell would spurs fans know about winning mentality anyway ? 6 months before turning on manager, 10-11 months ago is ridiculous, the same will happen to frank or areola. Create a poor atmosphere around team, get poor results At Spurs, the team will always walk alone, in tough times The support is relegation level, heck if there had been official involvement in throwing the game v city last season, the FA would have relegated them, then. Many fans here can't name 3-4 players they like from team, who knows what they support They see whole team as expendable and wonder why they don't get anywhere. They only humans wearing the badge they support are themselves
