Sun is not perfectly at centre. There is an eccentricity. Each planets have different eccentricity. So some planets can have a circular orbit and many planets have an elliptical orbit. How big the ellipse is based on how eccentric it is? If a planet has 0 eccentricity then that planet will have a circular orbit, otherwise it will follow an elliptical orbit. Hope that clarifies.

நிலவில் Gravity இருக்கு. ஆனால் அதன் Mass க்கு ஏற்றவாறு குறைவாக இருக்கும். நிலவு மட்டும் அல்ல, எந்த கிரகம் ஆனாலும் அதன் Mass ஐ பொறுத்து Gravity இருக்கும். இதை நாம் சுலபமாக கணக்கீடு கூட செய்ய முடியும்.

Line of gravitation is traced from general relativity (macro-scale) to quantum mechanics (nano-scale) and thus solved the incompatibilty between them and whose study serves one fundamental for classical and modern physics... Yes, the Earth revolves around the Sun. In a way we can say it is trying to go towards the Sun but it can't because of momentum. Sun is constantly trying to pull the Earth because of its immense mass, but it luckily misses it every time. Regarding distance, imagine you rotating a stone tied to a string, as long as you are giving enough force, the stone will be in a circular motion, here the distance is determined by the length of the string. Likewise wrt to Earth, Sun's gravity is the string here. It determines the distance. Also mass of Sun and Earth plays a role too. Hope it clarifies.
