I did many times this tour with my little motorcycle from Padma Utara over the Poppy Lanes, allways eat something in the top of the Beach Walk Mall, there was also a good dutch haircutter: Rob Peetoom, by us he has also a big shop, it was a great month for me, seen also the Islands with the fast ferrys. once i wanna go back to sunny Bali.

You want to know what happened to Poppies 1? It priced itself out. Poppies restaurant became WAY too expensive, the arak bar disappeared and the cheap hippies became monied hippies - which over some years turned everyone off the place. Down the tight lane was the famous Made's on Jl Pantai Kuta and guess what, it priced itself for rich Jakartans and lost the skint bules. Accommodation costs on Poppies I skyrocketed too. Meanwhile over on Gg Poppies II it remained cheap, places and entertainment were everywhere, it was far less of a wank and there were plenty of girls and drinking spots. AND up the road the party centre on Jl Legian (the eventual atrocity site). The bottom line with Indonesia and Asia is price. Older people tend to have money (thus Sanur and Nusa Dua), younger people tend to travel poor (thus many parts of Tabanan/Canggu but not all).

I have been going to Poppies Lane for a long time now. Since Covid19, it seems to be getting less busy. Maybe the, new generation of tourist are going to Canngu and Ullawatu instead Krisna? Pretty sad really.
