Hi, this video explained HIL. PIL you mentioned is used to test whether the software and the model are consistent, and HIL is used to test the controller system. In the HIL scenario, the tested controller does not know that it is connected to a simulation platform, and it will think that it is connected to a real item. MIL, SIL, and PIL are unique to the MBD development, but HIL is different, whether you use MBD development or not, you may need to do HIL.
