How does header bidding work? What are the differences between header bidding and waterfall? All explained in 2 minutes.
Header bidding, sometimes called pre-bidding, is a programmatic technology where the publisher offers his ad inventory to many demand partners (like Google) at the same time.
Currently, header bidding is an industry-standard for displaying programmatic ads. But it wasn't 5 years ago. There was another technology-waterfall.
So in this video, we explain the differences between these two technologies.

Does this mean that not only remnant ads go through the wrapper but all ads do? unlike waterfall?

Hi! Thank you for your question. Header bidding collects bids on the publisher’s webpage before making the request to the ad server (e.g., Google Ad Manager). Therefore, publishers aren’t bound to sell their ad inventory to Google unless it’s the highest bidder. So to answer your question, yes, all bids go through the wrapper.

Hi! Thank you for your question. The short answer is yes, but it's dependent on my things. Domain stats (audience engagement, traffic GEOs, time on page, etc), previous monetization, previous policy violations. Ultimately, all these things will have an impact on monetization results with header bidding.

Hi Anil! The implementation steps for header bidding are quite technical and complicated. Normally, publishers choose to work with either a header bidding partner or choose an open-source wrapper (prebid.js) but even in this case, they'll still likely enlist the help of a trained AdOps team. The most important part of HB isn't even the implementation process, but continuous optimizaitons on the publisher side and demand partners (SSPs) that your header bidding provider has.
