What a great explanation of such a fascinating phenomenon. One thing I love about astrophotography is that it drives people to learn more about the universe and physics, even if they normally wouldn't be inclined to. 🙌 Well done!

This was exactly the information I was looking for. I'm not a photographer. Just got interested by some recent hubble photos that talked about the H-alpha emission and now I know. Outstanding presentation.

Is there anyway to shoot in monochrome format from a normal DSLR camera ??? And will it give better results???
@kamilkp2 жыл бұрын
No. DSLRs have a bayer color filter array backed into the sensor

@@kamilkp someone recommended me to convert rgb images to monochrome in post processing and use it, possible ???
@bakerfx49682 жыл бұрын
@@pruthuvanara1243 if you’re shooting with narrowband I could see that working but without that bayer pattern removed each channel will still get different values with green still being double. Might be more headache than it’s worth when processing

You can use Ha filters with a DSLR but you should just extract the R channel from RGB and discard G and B completely
@harveyfreed63422 жыл бұрын
So a full spectrum modification should collect H alpha .

I got turned off with these Ha filters. Got the Astronomik filter for Nikon full frame. It does not slip in as their video shows. Have sent them numerous emails and they can't even be bothered to respond. Pathetic.
