Thank you for the great videos. I am a student of Industry4.0, IIoT, Digitalization ... . I am good at data analytics and programming, but like many non-mechatronic students, I am not very familiar with industrial-level systems like PLCs, SCADA, ... . Do you offer any kind of tutorial/program for people like me?

I bought Redigate 400 and 100 boxes 4 years ago tinkering with IIoT and AWS. Was successful in pub and sub between three boxes both digital and analog values. I agree with you on the CmT-SVR. I’ve got three of them, two are just gateways and one allows screenwork as well. Good stuff.

Walker thanks a lot for putting the time and effort into these videos, really clear and informative! Can I ask your point of view on the reliability of wireless communication in critical processes, for example: 1. Gateway is down or lagging 2. RT communications guarantee in the segment between the EZRack PLC and it's sensors Would you keep autonomous parts of the system wired as a backup? Thanks

Thanks for the wonderful video! But I am still confused about how the IIOT architecture can implement mutual control among MES, SCADA, and field PLCs. In traditional automation architecture, as you explained, you have to build every road between nodes(MESSCADA, SCADAPLCs, HMIPLCs). The bad thing is the engineering is very expensive, but the good thing is you can have full and mutual control/automate from Level 4 to Level 0. I am wondering if the IIOT architecture is still able to fully control all levels from top to down(not only collecting data). Because it seems there is no connection between nodes anymore, and every node has to link to Unified Namespace via MQTT. How to achieve automation control under IIOT architecture with MQTT?

How much data from the ERP system gets public into the namespace? Does this then lead to duplication of data between ERP and the unified namespace?

So it may sound as a dumb question: who is responsible for storing historical data ? As i understand the namespace is a snapshot of the whole enterprise AS IS, if we have a historian module bookkeeping all states of the system, can this data be accessed (eg by the AI module for data processing) through the unified namespace? (then you would basically have a namespace within a namespace ?? )

Can you please explain a bit more on these two questions since they were touched a bit fast in the video: 1- how to connect old devices to iot, devices which are not webservices / mqtt capable? Do you have a concrete example? 2- if I would elaborate my architecture with additional tools or devices, these tools are not known to the rest, normally we would build an interface where needed, with iot we could connect them to the mqtt broker, however how does the broker knows the new data from the news system, So I would have to elaborate the broker and all systems which need that data and subscribe these topics, correct? Is that not also an effort? Why is that an advantage compared to restapi? Don’t you think that an interface can do more than a message broker? Last but not least :) we are always talking about metadata, how about data sets which are needed in many enterprise applications e.g. a documents or a drawing etc. the datasets cannot be sent via the message broker or am I wrong? If so, the interference will then remain essential and im questioning the value vs effort/costs Many thanks in advance!

How are people tying their MES and ERP into the MQTT broker? Setting aside the Ignition Sepasoft MES module, most ERP and MES apps do not have native MQTT clients. Suppose one's ERP/MES (e.g., Plex Manufacturing Cloud) has HTTPS-based APIs, would one need to develop some sort of gateway that sits between it and the MQTT broker?
@4.0Solutions4 жыл бұрын
Correct. This integration would be similar to how an edge device integrates a non-iiot device (in this case the ERP system) into the IIoT ecosystem.
@jrs894 жыл бұрын
@@4.0Solutions What has the experience been like developing gatways for ERP/MES APIs? I would imagine the transactions are much more complex. Is it challenging? With field devices, it's pretty simple as its reading/writing tags from a device's memory table. With ERP/MES, there are all sorts of APIs involved for different transactions. The idea of making them ERP/MES methods generic and pointing them to namespace seems really cool, but really hard.

Just a question on the unified namespace. as i understand it is a single source of information for all the IIOT components to publish & subscibe to. so is the Namespace like a database on a Server with Terabytes of storage. or is it like Cloud Based Software that does this?

Hi! Great explanation, something we can all understand finally! Im still a student and breaking my head with this question, please guide me master! Does the local HMI actually get data directly from PLC or from SCADA (I geuss can be both) or does it get only alarms and historical stuff from SCADA and everything else directly from PLC as it is faster? Can a local HMI commands be overridden from SCADA master/control room? Thanks a lot in advance
@4.0Solutions4 жыл бұрын
Yes, exactly! It can be both.
