The title intrigued me, because many years ago, probably 20 years by now, I was a flight attendant, I had a flight to Osaka. I wanted to buy Koi and somehow I had an address were a Koibreeder lived. In the outskirts of Osaka. It was amazing and I bought twelve small Kois. Two of them didn't survive the long trip home and another two died within the first week in my pond. But the other 8 lived many years. I was very proud of them, though they were not prize winners.

When I lived in Honolulu in the 1960s, I attended an international koi show and one koi sold for over a million dollars! I can’t imagine what that would be in today’s dollars! Koi usually live 25-35 years but one lived to be 226 years old! The show champion in Hawaii when I went was supposed to have perfect markings- I’d like to think it’s still alive and just a very old koi!

Before watching this video, I had no interest and zero knowledge about koi. I'm not even sure why I clicked on the video, and I certainly did not expect to watch the full hour. But I did watch the whole thing. I found it fascinating and I loved the way the narrator explained everything. It really made me wish I had the space and the $ to start a koi pond. They really are truly beautiful. Thanks for an informative peek into this cool hobby.

I am bored and raised in Sacramento, we had no idea such high quality is local. My mother native to Hawaii has wanted to get Koi and start a pong. As soon as I heel from my back surgery we will be down to visit. We of course will be watching more and come to discuss possibility before bringing these gorgeous fish home. I never knew all of the different types of koi had names, this video was fun, educational and very informative while being enjoyable too. We are glad to have watch it and excited to see your shop. Thank you so much for sharing your trip and business practice with future clients.

This video was absolutely amazing. Thank you SO much for taking us along with you on your koi buying trip. I've never had this experience myself, but would jump on the opportunity in a heartbeat. Noticed a few midorigoi in some of the holding tanks I would have gone for... they are my weakness. :) The gin rins are also truly stunning no matter their type.

This is the second video I have watched on visiting Japan and shopping for Koi. They are beautiful fish and such a wonderful challenge to pick the ones you want. They are amazing for such variety and how large they can grow. You are so blessed to be in this business which you obviously love and experience the journey every year. As I have parrots and collect tropical plants I am not really in a position to expand into these fabulous fish. I appreciate the great job your camera crew did on capturing the trip and taking us along.

I have such a deep appreciation for Japanese culture. This amazing video and education into the world of Koi, has opened a whole new vista I could never have imagined. Also your detailed narration helped to really bring the visuals to a much higher level of understanding. I’ve been to Japan once, after seeing this video a return trip is a must. Thank you again. Really nice video. Very thorough coverage. I really felt like I was part of your whole experience. The Japanese sure a remarkable and very special culture. They seem to be super friendly as well as extremely courteous. The Nishikigoi you purchased are truly magnificent treasures. I thank you for sharing your awesome experience. How cool your job is. A dream profession. I certainly can see how much work and passion goes into the beautiful creations that has given us the gift of the impressive world of the Koi.

I’m one of the lucky ones to live in my inherited grandmas house which has a beautiful koi pond and waterfall room, currently I own 7 koi fish and looking for more! I really recommend building your own koi pond! It’s delightful to watch them swim and swim and swim. ☺️

Wow, such gorgeous video. Your voice is so easy to listen to and the quality footage was very enjoyable. :) I kept thinking that wow, there are people that someday can watch this video and go "look, there is my fish!" And see what kind of people raised him or her. :) I will always wish I had koi in my life but not sure if I ever will be able to. I breed cattle though and I could somewhat relate on seeing a whole "crop" of animals and suddenly go "whoa look at that one!" In a way that didn't show as clearly when they were more spread out with moms in the fields but next to eachother it shows and some of them can stand out in this incredible way that I think can't be explained to those that have never felt it! I could tell too that these breeders have over a very long period of time valued good mentality as well besides good looks and I tend to think it says a lot about a great person when they are breeders with good mentality animals! No matter the species.

Great video. I love the Japanese culture. It is a very honorable culture and I was never scammed nor have I ever felt unsafe during my travels there. I also felt joy in the culture unlike other APAC cultures I've experienced. I really enjoyed this video. I appreciate the respect your showed the fish and most importantly the people. You gave me goose bumps a number of times throughout the video and made me think about returning with my family. It is very expensive so it may be just a dream for now but one I will consider seriously. Thanks.

My husband and I bought six 2 and a half inches . They were in a fish tank on top of our fridge . We then built a large pond in the back yard . It was 14 ft long 6ft wide by 5 ft deep at the deepest. In3 years our koi grew to 9 inches . They are very smart fish .we fed them fish pellets
