I really wish my country people had some basic knowledge that keeping their country clean is actually beneficial for everyone including them! One day they would realise .. :) My hometown is really really clean and serene but sadly it's not a tourist place and no one from outside our country (except a few Russian scientists) are allowed inside!

Abinash Panigrahy - where is your hometown, in India? You are correct in knowing that it is beneficial for all ppl to live in a clean atmosphere. Also, ppl should take pride in keeping their living spaces and surrounding areas clean. It cuts down on bacteria and contamination, while at the same time it is more pleasing to the eye.

rohith reddy - Due to my job, I am currently living in 'South' only. Although what you said could have a slight truth in it, but still it's like comparing apples with oranges. However, we as an undivided country need to evolve a lot more, at least in terms of mentality.

The problems of pollution, waste water, sewage, animals, building codes, etc. require a lot of taxes to hire employees to fix them. In the USA, there are many large cities with neighborhoods that have similar problems of dilapidated buildings, homes, litter, etc. The solution is tax revenue to hire the employees to fix the problems.

Right on, sounds great David. I use Videopad Video Editor. I've been using it for about six years now, works pretty good and it's fairly cheap, around $50 one-time purchase. First trip, one month, so much to take in on what will probably be an introduction to further exploration of the country. Current prep is including visits to the library for Indian fiction and travel writing (detective books, country specific, such as the Inspector Chopra series), pestering the Indian Tourist Bureau for material, and the free library Mango Language Course. Past travel has shown me that it is not the number of places seen, but quality of experiences.Market walking, cooking classes, interactions with locals, animal welfare programs, local martial arts, motorcycle touring are personal favs. And a special interest in historical and Buddhist/Hindu sites. For a first trip, based on the time of the year, probably western and northern India. Thank you for the quick reply.

Have noticed most of the western and American tourists have this habit of capturing only the ugly side of India. India has many many beautiful places and cities which are clean and very well managed. And India is much much safer than many western countries. In most of the cities and towns in India you can roam around till 11 pm with families without any fear of getting shot 😀.

Not sure if you're referring to me specifically or others, but keep in mind that I have literally hundreds of videos of India, going back to 2010, showing all aspects of the country. This is the bus ride going from Agra, where I visited the beautiful Taj Mahal, to Vrindavan, which is a holy spiritual village and the birthplace of Krishna. So I was going between two important places. I can't help the fact that the views out the bus window along the way are pretty intense. The truth is, being one of the people in the world who has seen the most of India (two years altogether criss-country the country), this is the view out the window almost anywhere you travel in India. Should I not point the camera out the window and show what it looks like? I think the comments suggesting that I'm overemphasizing the garbage and pollution are misguided. This is the reality of India. It is what you see everywhere, in the cities and towns and villages and in-between them all. If you check out more of my videos from India, I can guarantee you will see everything you can imagine about India represented. And I agree with you that India is quite safe, probably safer than America in many ways. There are many amazing things about India, which is precisely why I keep coming back. But there are also problems, and the garbage and environmental pollution is a major problem that I think the people of India need to be more willing to acknowledge, rather than blaming a tourist for filming their country as it is.

Gabriel Traveler You and everyone else is always welcome in India. Every country in this world has it's share of problems from Europe to North America to Africa. I have travelled to US quiet a few times and love that country. Whenever I speak about US I tell my friends that US and the people of America is not what you see in hollywood movies. Always try to capture and share good things about US with my friends and relatives. That does not mean that there is no poverty in US, there are no homeless people in US or no crime. But I always try to project the better side of the place or country I visit. The issue that I am trying to convey to you is that when you travel extensivly and see both good and bad your perception will be different from a person who has not done that and draws a conclusion basis your videos. Some of them may have not even stepped out of their states. They will only notice the garbage and dirt. Hope you understand....no hard feelings though...I love watching your videos 👍

To all those Indians who are criticizing gabreil for videoing flith and trash and tainting the image of our country .In first place we should keep in consideration that he is on his expedition and just capturing sourroundings around him .If there is garbage piled up everywhere then how can we ask him to avoid capturing it instead of accepting our deficiency in part of cleanliness some people are lashing him for capturing only dirt flith over here .I strongly disagree with such people his motive is to just create vlog on his way if trash and dirt are moving along with him it isn't his fault.

Amazing to see the journey under less than ideal conditions but it seems like they make it work. Not exactly the pristine beaches and clear waters but still interesting to see. What you just showed is the end result of British colonisation. They owned the place, milked it dry and then cut it loose, it wasn't called the jewel in the British empire for nothing. What you showed are the locals just trying to survive day to day and things like litter have no priority. These people are slowly regaining what they had before colonisation and they are going places.

@IOS Development I second your point of view but Arabs ruled India for 330 years.. before British.. Honestly apart from Taj Mahal they didn't gave us anything.. Don't give me ancient history, The Brits owned it from 1757 until 1947. They were not there out of the goodness of their hearts, it was their job to milk it dry and send their booty back to the UK. Their military had no problem shooting thousands of Indians and I wonder what the British military did with their garbage. These are facts, my only interest is in history and the truth.

Gabriel, I was wondering about something, after watching your videos for a while: Do you sometimes have issues at the border, when entering any country, since you do not always have an onward ticket, you are travelling alone, and sometimes you do not know exactly how long you are going to stay in the country you just entered? I live in Canada and have visited the US many times, and they always insist that I provide proof that I will get out of the US at some point, and always ask where I will stay (as in, provide an address) and for how long. It has also happened that they questioned that I was travelling by myself and that I was not planning on meeting someone in the US. I was just wondering if you had any of these experiences elsewhere.

I always research that before I fly somewhere, so I've never had a problem with it. For example for the Philippines, Indonesia and Colombia I'd read that they required an onward flight to enter the country, so I made sure I had one. In two of those cases I was asked if I had another flight by the airline, but I've never been asked about it by the customs agents themselves.

I don't have time to write an in-depth response (trying to finish editing my next video), because I'd say it's complicated and there are multiple reasons. But the short answer is that I came back to India this time to hang out in Rishikesh for a while as it's a really nice place, cheap and a good place to focus on some things I wanted to work on. You'll see videos from here soon. But I thought it would be more interesting for people to see some other places, so I decided to start off with the camel fair in Pushkar and then show some other sights along the way while heading up to Rishikesh. Also I might head into the Himalayas which are really amazing and I would say the best part of India. But I'm not sure if I'll go up there yet since it's getting cold, I'll see.

All that garbage and filth is totally our responsibility. We did see that guy throwing a plastic bag outside the bus. He's not conscious, It doesn't bother him or others for that matter. All those piled up garbage is municipality's responsibility and even they are corrupt. To be true... many people in India are still use to the old ways. They are not aware how bad plastic is for the environment and with increasing population it's only getting worse to manage the garbage. State governments always have other agendas.

Info about the music I use is always in the description below the video. Either there's a link to the song or else if there isn't then it's because it's available for free in the youtube audio library. Both of the songs used in this one are in the audio library. Not sure if you can access it with any youtube account or if you have to have a certain account status or what but you should be able to find the songs somewhere. That band Mk2 has some really awesome stuff, I've used some other songs of theirs in recent videos.

15:26 It seems odd that a charity for Girls (FFL Vrindavan .org) is wanting (english readers) to sponsor Bull or a cow. The Web site is very much white washed as compared to the raw footage. FFL seems like a good organization.

and as for the Barabara bashing! what is , Is ! there are people n places in India tht r much more well off, but you cant deny that a lot of poverty still exists! We are moving ahead, but still there is a long way to go. The size of the population, history, country's wealth, geography all matter n make a difference on how to get there, how difficult it is n how long it will take.

Seriously Gabriel, What is up with the garbage in India? Do people just empty their garbage outside their door or something? I thought the most basic service in society is garbage collection. Don't the people notice the problem? Isn't this a major health concern?

The GoPro Hero 5 (it says you filmed with it in the description) is soooo much better than the old one! None of the fisheye bendy stuff going on. This looked great! That bus, tho. 😬😂😣
@GabrielTravelerVideos
@GabrielTravelerVideos 7 жыл бұрын
Excellent, glad to hear. With this one I can change the angle of the lens to five different options. So I change it wider or narrower depending on the scene so that it isn't always in fish eye mode. All of the videos I've made since I started this trip in Thailand have been filmed with this same camera. Only thing is I wish I'd gotten the 6 which came out a week after I ordered this one, because the 6 has better image stabilization.
@KarinLynnBates
@KarinLynnBates 7 жыл бұрын
Gabriel Traveler The ability to change modes makes a huge difference! Yeahhhh, there’s always going to be something newer coming out! For now, this is pretty good. More stabilization would be good, but hey, I bet you’ll be able to invest in an even newer GoPro soon. The music & editing was really cool in this, too, which adds to capturing the look & feel of the experience!

Even when paying attention it is dangerous. My sister was hit by a motorcycle our second day there. She was on the sidewalk and he drove onto the sidewalk and hit her. Then he yelled at her and drove off. She permanently damaged her leg from it. Another girl in our group was raped by a cab driver and his friends. India is a horrible country full of rude and disgusting people.

I'm sorry to hear about what happened to your sister and the other woman. However I can't agree at all that India is a horrible country as you say. The people here are overwhelming friendly and well-intentioned. There are certainly some bad apples though and you do have to be careful.

wow Gabriel... these people.... it´s heartbreaking... their overall living conditions.... and the poor animals (cows, dogs, monkeys)... is like...well I´m from Costa Rica, there´s some poverty here, but not so massive. I can´t help to feel guilty for having so much in my life and still feeling so unhappy. I don´t know if I could have the motivation to go there and not be able to help in some way... last year I went to Guatemala and was completely heartbroken about the living conditions of the average indigenous people and animals as well... I just wanted to take so many kids and dogs back home with me....

Have thought about going to kumbh mela?
@GabrielTravelerVideos
@GabrielTravelerVideos 7 жыл бұрын
Yes but the timing hasn't worked out. However I went to a magh mela in 2000 which is a smaller version on an off year (the kunbha mela happens every four years). It was still absolutely massive, I think more than a million people were there. I wasn't making videos then, but I did write about it in my book "Following My Thumb". Shameless plug: link below the video!
@GabrielTravelerVideos
@GabrielTravelerVideos 7 жыл бұрын
It's kind of complicated, but it happens every 12 years at each site, and there are four different sites. So the mela rotates around to these four different cities with varying dates depending on astrological determinations. As I understand it then it happens somewhere every four years. Anyway, I went to what was basically a small version of the kumbha mela.

I have never been a great fan of the cities in North India especially in UP, Bihar which are obviously the least developed states and quite dirty. However the States in the hills and the North East although the infrastructure may not be as developed is a much better place. Down south Kerala and Goa is awesome
