Hi! I'm a jr web dev and I have been thinking about checking out PHP/Laravel, coming from the JS world. I always felt like Laravel is awesome. Everything you need in one place. No looking for 3rd party packages and differences in tools/architecture between projects must be an amazing feeling! I'm looking foward to the next videos! My question is: How much of vanilla PHP should we know in order to move into Laravel? Should we build a whole web project in vanilla first so we can check Laravel out? Next video goes in detail on requirements for this course which will be published on Thursday. For this particular course yes you need to know PHP at least on basic level, and by basic I mean know things like composer, OOP, autoloading, etc. I have a comprehensive PHP course that was designed in a way that it will prepare you for Laravel or any other PHP framework. If you want to learn Laravel alongside with PHP then I'd suggest checking Laracasts 30 days of Laravel course which is a quicker way to get started with it

I may be biased but my answer to that is yes I think it's still worth it. It of course depends on your area, if jobs in your area are more for JavaScript then maybe you'd want to go for that instead of try for a remote position with PHP/Laravel

I was planning to switch to js since it makes real time web apps easier to create and manage and thats my goal. But my love is for php. So far am more comfortable in functional, programming, but i realized functional programming is for personal or small projects. For collaboration, a framework is almost required. I really don't know what to do.
