The city of Pripyat was abandoned in 1986 and since then has been living its own kind of special life. Houses, apartments, schools and shops of Pripyat resemble some kind of separate civilization, and over time this impression only intensifies. Modern Pripyat is somewhat elusively similar to the ancient city of Pompeii, which perished in one day and became a replica of the culture of its era.
In this episode of our series about Chernobyl, we will talk about Pripyat, and show it from an unusual angle - we will try to look at the city through the eyes of archaeologists of the future in order to understand what is left in the empty city that everyone left. And to find out some details from the life of Pripyat in the eighties, Alexander Esaulov, a former resident of Pripyat, who worked as the deputy head of the Pripyat City Executive Committee, will help us.
