Liberalism is fine as long as a balance of power framework is maintained but as soon as Ukraine wanted to join NATO (or a fear of Ukraine joining NATO), then reality sets in (realism) and Russia applies either a deterrence or inserts leaders sympathetic to the Kremlin or they invade. Liberalism may be desired but realism ultimately wins out!

Agreed, I think Liberalism is only became appealing to every country when they've become worn out with wars. These European unions and stuff exist since disastrous world wars. But since we've not facing any major conflicts for a quiet long time the balance of power framework become disturbed.
