These tracks, along with a Legacy Controller, can be used for hundreds of functions! For instance, you can program a turnout to change route every time a train finishes going through that turnout - and end up with a Stan Roy kind of layout, where multiple trains constantly run multiple routes. Or you can set a particular crew talk dialogue, or a horn signal (like three short hoots before backing, etc).

Back in the late 60's I used hair switches in the centerline of the track to advance a punch card (remember them?) that lined up switches to vary the route of the train. Would that be something that could be somehow programmed with your neat new electronics?

Not sure. Maybe you can suggest it to the manufacturers? They might know a little more then us.

But to use this, you need a 6-81499 LCS PDI to DB9 cable. This cable is discontinued and out-of-stock everywhere! So LCS is basically useless to anyone new to the hobby 😞
