Damn, those comments showed real elitist thinking that no communist whether in the past nor future would or should appreciate. If you show people their traditional clothes in a respectful and educated manner, no one in their right mind would be angry, in fact I whole heartedly believe they'd even appreciate it. I do not get in what logic that dressing up and remembering fashion styles of the past would hurt any movement communist or otherwise. There is a famous saying in my country saying "Those who cannot turn back and remember where they came from is worse than a fishy fish (basically something foul, it sounds better in my native tongue lol)." and this is exactly the case for us, how can we expect a better future when we refuse to look at and remember our past and be grateful that they tested, experimented, and failed (due to not having enough counter measures against autocratic tendencies hiding behind liberal facades, aka Yeltsin) for us (the people of the future) to succeed.
@monsieurdorgat68645 ай бұрын
The very notion that communism could be hurt by someone's fashion choices is pretty dumb on principle. Yeah the "liberal communists" that infest the west who obsess over optics and are terminally online are part of the reason there is no legitimate left in the west.

The problem isn't the living history and showing how people lived at the time, the issue is the succeeding statement that this is to praise communists who lived at the time. Like, thanks no; let's not praise communists who lived in Lenin's and Stalin's USSR.

@@BorninPurple NOT praise them? For giving women rights almost equal and in some aspects even better than their European counterparts? For turning Russia from a colonialist imperialist monarchy that LITERALLY threw MILLIONS of dead bodies (that were fathers, brothers, and sons and not just an arbitrary number mind you) just so their Monarch could have a p*nis swinging contest with his f*cking COUSIN on who had the larger army (aka WWI), and turned this sh*thole called Tsarist Russia into a somewhat responsible government that educated, housed, and fed the poor??? You are literally telling me to NOT praise a movement that managed to almost equal the United States of Apartheid America and become a great power without resorting to slavery (Almost numbering to 15 Million men, women, AND CHILDREN that were brutalized by the US), exploited labor (from the millions of Chinese, Filipino, and Mexican workers that were then denied citizenship), AND colonial exploitation that included destroying several democracies and distabalizing numerous countries into ruin. The USSR created all that they had achieved without the things mentioned before (that the US did mind you) and all this is AFTER the devastation of WWII where the nazi germans literally killed off almost half their population in it's genocidal attack on Russia (which left no prisoners mind you, they killed everyone on sight, women and children included), most of their infrastructure reduced to rubble (meaning they had to build roads, railways, and buildings FROM SCRATCH), and in a short timespan of FIFTY years managed to reach mother f*cking SPACE! Not even a fraction of the time the US has existed AND without the baggage of the horrific things the US is guilty of. And before you go mentioning how the Russians starved under the USSR, well no sh*t genius, of course there was a famine after WWII and the atrocities the nazis did on the Slavs, but for the rest of the USSR's reign, food was stable and everyone had the right to eat. Food shortage only became a problem AFTER the USSR fell and "Shock Therapy" as the capitalists called it, used this on the Russian economy at the time and basically destroyed Russia... Now tell me, what in these lists of achievements is not worthy of praise? Sure the USSR wasn't perfect, no government is after all, but you'd be lying if you didn't admit how amazing the USSR was. After the USSR fell, Russian education fell by 50%, life expectancy fell by 10 YEARS, and crime sky rocketed, eventually leading to modern day Russia under Putin.

Gonna be honest, any comrade that spouts off at the mouth to put down another simply because they seek to bring relevance of the Soviet Union in a different form than their “traditional” method and cowardly hide behind the farce of “ruining the movement” is just an incredibly miserable person, and no comrade of mine. In fact, I’d go as far as calling them out as liberals LARPing as comrades in a pathetic attempt to seed divisiveness among those who truly align with the party. Please keep moving forward and bringing light to the glory of the Soviet Union, the vast history is so often ignored it’s criminal. My college has a few classes that use a roleplay based pedagogy called 'reacting to the past' where students take roles of different historical figures, read about their theories, ideas, and actions. I got to play Emma Goldman for a class which was awesome. I feel like all the students really took it seriously and learned a ton.

I absolutely love this video! I've been deeply fascinated with the Soviet Union for about a decade now and in that time I've collected all sorts of books printed in the USSR, pins, military jackets/clothing, plates, posters, maps, signs, really anything. I love what you said about what to fight for, who to remember, emulating hisotrical figures/movements in small ways, my striving and admiration for these figures is very much motivation for me to grow as a person and challenge myself, a means of contextualizing my struggles and hardships, and a deep reverence for their sacrifices and dedication. Those rude comments about "larping" and "hurting the Communist movement" are so silly, and maybe we should pity them because they can't understand how it feels to be incredibly passionate and fascinated by something. For so long people have been confused at best and mocking at worst about my preoccupation with this historical entity and the humans it was composed of, I certainly have had accusations similar to those raised by these sad people. But at the end of the day, it brings me joy and is something I'm knowledgeable and excited about. After a lot of chaotic life stuff I had to take a break from school but I will be returning in the fall and moving forward I'm going to major in Soviet/Eastern European/Central Asian studies because life is too short to not pursue what you love. Thank you for all your work and research and for sharing it, despite the haters, it's so awesome to see someone with such a similar and strong love and connection for the USSR. Never stop being you and if you someday write a book on the Soviet Union, I will certainly buy it! For now, these videos are an absolute blessing. Again, thank you, comrade.
