Hello guys, my name is Igor Felipe and I'm here today to talk about logistics.
Often when it comes to logistics, several people understand it as a small part of the transport process, and this ends up creating a very limited view, as it covers many more areas than one might think.
To better understand logistics, I'll start by telling your story.
Logistics was initially developed as war planning a long time ago, where it was seen that good planning, resource allocation and storage could set the course for a war. So if we look at a general, in addition to understanding very well under war tactics they must also be very familiar with the logistics process.
Imagine that in addition to sending soldiers to the battlefield, they also had to send their weapons, food and had to stock them. It would not do you good to have a massive army if you don't have the tools to win. And it was from this war planning that logistics emerged.
Well, at that time, companies remained restricted to their consumers, that is, production should be close to their consumption pole, and the consumer should also be close to the production pole. The entrepreneur looking at the logistics of war, saw that the same process could be applied to business, and ended up copying the same process as the military, and saw in logistics a capacity to expand and manage products in places that should not necessarily be close to his own. consumption pole.
Well, today we have logistics as a very important process in the administration area of several companies, and it covers not only the area of transport and shipping, but also several areas such as warehousing, inventory, resource management, management of people, planning, and various other processes that make it possible to produce a particular product or service in a period of time, and then make it available.
I'll give you a simple example.
You are walking on the street, it is very hot, it is over 40 degrees and you notice that on the street, several people appear offering water or ice cream.
Unintentionally, those people apply a concept of logistics, because at a certain moment, he stored that product, so that in an opportune moment he could take advantage of the moment of greatest heat, to make it available.
Law of supply and demand. This way of acting is associated with the value of time and logistics, all to add value to the product. That is, those salespeople waited for the hottest day, relating this to the value of time, used the stock of their products and made it available at the time when people wanted to cool off. This also happens when it is raining, someone always appears selling an umbrella.
This concept is adopted by several companies, working directly only with logistics or indirectly being incorporated into the administrative sector of some companies. It is a sector that is growing more and more.
With technology, we realized that people started to make more purchases online than in physical stores, and this directly influences the logistics of the product, because if there is a demand by the consumer, the product must be within reach within a short space of time. Or if a company in São Paulo decides to build a wind farm in Ceará, and the plant is in Minas Gerais, the logistics process is essential in the management of resources to ensure the progress of the project.
So when we talk about logistics, we must think in a macro way, in such a way that it seeks to bring access to a specific product or service to the final consumer, taking into account factors such as time, place, necessary conditions, all in a planning logistics.
