Excellent video I just learned something a hobby shop didn’t tell me…why my new 4s Mojave would turn off after maybe 10 minutes sometimes 5 minutes..turned out I had a brand new battery with a dead cell when we check each individual cell…so the battery read 15.3v after I charger it plugged into my car it would only run for maybe five minutes then shut off that’s because the ESC was detecting a bad cell not looking at total voltage…Great video thank you,so after testing the bad battery we checked the new battery the hobby shop gave me and each cell was balanced all comparable to each other cell

I played. A dangerous game. I'm new to rc my car didn't run that long. I would turn off the car and transmitter. Turn the transmitter back on then the car and I would run it some more. I noticed the battery was hot. Thanks for the video. I had no idea. I was running the 2s lipo all the way down. I know this because when I charged it it had 0 mah. Thanks again.

I somehow still dont understand and confuse.i already have a tamiya tt-02 with a mabuchi rs-540 brushed motor using a tble-02s esc.im using a nimh on it,i asked reddit can i use a lipo battery on the tble-02s esc but they say the lvc is wrong so they recommended me some esc. They said i should buy a hobbywing esc if i want to upgrade it into brushless so im gonna do it,they said they recommend me using the hobbywing quicrun 10bl120 g2 sensored brushless combo with a supersonic 10.5t or the hobbywing xr10 pro combo and they said,i should upgrade the battery into lipo too since lipo is more powerful then nimh. And they said they have good luck with zee brand and one of them recommend me the zeee 2s 5200mah 80c or the 50c since that fits on tt-02 perfectly.soon i will be buying the hobbywing xr10 pro or the quicrun 10bl120 g2 sensored.if im using a used 2s 5200mah 50c lipo battery,what lvc should i set for the esc,3.2v or 3.5v and if i want to set the lvc,how do i know if the lvc is happening while street bashing/some racing?

i have been into rc off and on since about 2013, i liked lipo enough to build my ebike battery out of lipo packs. i am trying to figure out how low to take the voltage. seems like i used to hear lipo packs should not be taken down to no less than 3.7v per cell. i just did a test and found that 3.7v at rest is almost exactly 50% soc, if you consider 3.0v per cell to be 0% soc. since i have six 6s packs, which is about 28lbs of battery, i cant justify only using about half the batttery, plus thats difference between 1.5hr of riding at 22mph vs 3 hours of riding

This is one of the reasons LiPo cells are rarely used for ebike purposes, we know a good amount about the ebikes and there's a reason most electric vehicles go with Li-Ion cells. They do just make more sense.

Good video. Once the low voltage cut off has happened, if you unplug and then plug the battery back in, will the low voltage cutoff activate again? Is it impossible to keep running a lipo down with a modern ESC?
@RCJuice3 жыл бұрын
Yes, LVC will kick in anytime the voltage is too low. Once it kicks in you can get some "'bursts" of power from the ESC for a little bit, but it will stop working altogether soon after. As long as the ESC reads the proper cells then yes, it is nearly impossible to run down a LiPo too far during use with a modern ESC. If you set the voltage down very low (say 3.0V) and the battery is old then it is possible the voltage will drop down too far for a charger to recognize it, but you can "revive" that as well: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bKLFkIGtZpibbNk

Traxxas and many other of the big brands don't like to give a lot of these specs but yes, 3.2V is fine for LVC.

why not just use LION batteries instead? They have higher capacity too. Because of discharge rate?

Exactly, the discharge is just not there on the LiOn but they are definitely more stable cells.

Sounds like you may need to calibrate your ESC (if you move your throttle trim on your radio it can also keep your ESC from arming, make sure your throttle trim is all the way down before powering up the ESC): kzbin.info/www/bejne/g3rTp6yfbdudfs0

I’m having a lvc situation going on now with my brand new erevo 2.0. It’s shutting the truck down at 3.9v per cell. I’m using 2 brand new 5200 mah 100c 2s lipos. It’s pretty annoying. That can’t be normal right? 3.9v ?
@RCJuice2 жыл бұрын
It can be, it depends on what the LVC is set to in the ESC programming. Are you able to check the settings?

@@RCJuice I just got off the phone with Traxxas and he’s saying that I can’t access the lvc or adjust it. He said that it’s possible it’s the deans to Traxxas plugs that I’m using causing the issue.
@RCJuice2 жыл бұрын
@@6spd85notch If you had cutting out under heavy throttle at all pack voltages then an adapter could be suspect, but if you are consistently hitting LVC at the same voltage then it is likely either the ESC setting is just where it is, or the packs are starting to sag once they dip-down in power and they are tripping the LVC. Does the throttle come back for a bit after hitting cutoff, or is it just hitting cutoff and shutting the whole party down?
@6spd85notch2 жыл бұрын
@@RCJuice cuts down to part throttle. Erevos battery compartments are tough. I’m actually looking at another set of batteries on eBay right now. I haven’t had an erevo in a while because I started buying arrma trucks that fit almost any size batteries. I don’t have any other batteries that fit it. Puffing batteries don’t help the situation either. I’m going to order some 3 cell batteries and I’ll let you know what happens. As long as I’ve been into rc cars I’ve never come across this problem. I think the batteries are way overrated. Mah and c rating are probably exaggerated and like you said the voltage dips below the cutoff for long enough to trigger Lvc.
@RCJuice2 жыл бұрын
@@6spd85notch Correct, you are a lot more limited on the packs you can run due to the nature of the battery trays you are working with. At some point an aftermarket ESC may be a worthwhile upgrade, if for no other reason the accessibility is nice.
