Many thanks to you both, so many right questions with such spot on answers. I personally would like to ask if you have any tips for senior postdocs wanting to jump to MSL jobs. Most MSLs are normally hired soon after PhD, but in many cases people needs to do longer postdocs, e.g. for immigration reasons. How can you highlight your senior scientific skills to justify that time gap.

I have friends who have done postdocs for 5-7 years and still successfully transitioned to the MSL positions. The best option is if the position is directly related to your research as a postdoc. If not, networking and persistence always help.

I think that if you have knowledge in the cardiovascular TA, you are smart enough to learn dermatology and vice versa.

I am studying for a PhD in Epidemiology and Health Statistics in China and would like to know the current status of this position in China. After checking some information online, it seems that this position has a high overlap with sales in China.

Since the pharma landscape in China is a bit different, I'm not sure if a formal MSL is established there.

Great Channel, Dr. CatsLab! How to prepare for the last interview, i.e. the presentation of a paper if they send you the information 1 hour prior to the presentation (followed by Q&A)? Is there anytime to prepare slides?

Typically when they asked for presentation, you should prepare the slides. An hour is short but manageable. You should start with reading figures and understand the key message the paper is trying to say. Then go back adding the intro, the conclusion and significance to the slide deck if time allows.

I will prepare several templates in advance including an introduction about the diseases covered in the pipeline and then I will add tables, graphs and charts (copy-paste) as soon as I receive the clinical paper. Hey Joy, you can always start MSL somewhere. If you have no intentions of pursuing an advanced degree, I would suggest going for clinical trial coordinator or some jobs only require master degrees.
